The road from Pannikkkala to Karippala in the Vithura Grama Panchayat of Thiruvananthapuram district was metalled and tarred utilising the Performance Grant share of ` 9,50,000. The road has a natural drain. The road passes through the tribal area and the beneficiaries number around 150 tribal families.

During the financial year 2012-13, the Thiruvarppu Grama Panchayat in Kottayam District spent ` 10,00,000 for concreting the road connect- ing Ayyanmathra and Palathra. The length of the road is 400 metres and the width is 3 metres. The family welfare centre in the Kanjiramkulam Grama Pancha- yat of Thiruvananthapuram district was functioning in a rented building. Also, it had limited facilities. The Grama Panchayat constructed a new family welfare centre at Chani. The project was completed in two years with an expenditure of ` 10,45,000 which was met from the Performance Grant share of KLGSDP. The centre is functioning twice in a week. The doctors of the Primary Health Cen- tre visits the centre and give treat- ment for Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar. Prenatal and post-natal care is a key objective of the centre.

Kerala Local Government Service Delivery Project 17 Energy Generation

Solar panels were installed at the Grama Panchayat office by the Kumbala Grama Panchayat utilising ` 9,80,000 of the Performance Grant from KLGSDP and ` 4,00,000 subsidy from ANERT. Chenkal Grama Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district implemented the drinking water project with total project cost of ` 1,75,000. The project is located in Kalluvila Neerazhivettuvila Erap- pakkani Potta. The project is a spill over of 2011-12, approved for implementation in 2012-13. The aim of the project is to dig bore well, fit tank to store water and extend pipe line in an area where people are facing scarcity of drinking water. The work is completed. About 50 families are the beneficiaries of the project. Chenkal Grama Panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district implemented the lift irrigation project. The scheme is located at Ven- chakulam. Total cost of the project is ` 10,00,000 of which the Perfor- mance Grant contribution is ` 7,50,000. It is implemented to meet the irrigation requirements of the Grama Panchayat.
