    Report of UTTHAN One-Week Online Lecture Series on Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Finance (July 20-27, 2020) Organized by Department of Accountancy and Business Statistics, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur & Indian Accounting Association, Udaipur (Raj) Branch This lecture series is organised by Department of Accountancy and Statistics, University College of Commerce and Management Studies, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur and Indian Accounting Association, Udaipur branch. The main aim of one-week lecture series is to uplift the knowledge of Faculty and Research Scholars in the subjects by providing them with exposure of contemporary developments in certain topics. Lecture series began with inaugural session which was presided by Prof. N. S. Rathore, H'ble Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University Udaipur. Programme Director Prof. G. Soral, Guest of Honour Prof. Renu Jatana, Dean and Faculty Chairman, University College of Commerce and Management Studies, Udaipur and organizing secretary Dr. Shilpa Vardia were also present. Prof. Shurveer Singh Bhanawat welcomed the guests. The session was coordinated by Dr. Shilpa Lodha and vote of thanks was given away by Dr. Shilpa Vardia. Immediately thereafter the first session of lecture series started which focused on the topic Behavioral Finance which was delivered by Professor G Soral, Head, Department of Accountancy and Statistics, UCCMS, MLSU, Udaipur and President of Indian Accounting Association. He enlightened the knowledge of participants by providing in- depth knowledge about the concept of Behavioral Finance. Some key points discussed in the session were: What is Behavioral Finance, How it differs from Efficient Market Hypothesis, What various researchers have analysed about Behavioral Finance, What are the various biases that has been studied in Behavioral Finance, Significance of Behavioral Finance and also suggested some precautions that may prove to be helpful to the investors while making investment decisions.

From Dilip Kumar to Shah Rukh Khan, B-town has many names in this list of superstars. But lately, we only have stars. The culture of superstar has become redundant. Reason? May be the advent of social media. With easy accessibility and direct contact with a star over social media has brought down the curiosity that once existed around the film stars. So, today’s class, you will find little different from whatever we have been doing so far. It is on melodrama and I will be discussing a very popular Hindi film. I am sure all of you have heard of it or you are familiar with it; this is Deewar, 1975 film, directed by Yash Chopra and written by the great screen writing is screen writer Duo Salim Javed. The movie star Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, and Nerupa roy, who played their mother. Now, why Deewar? Generally, when we talk about popular cinema, which impersonates a national myth; we talk about Meheboob Khan’s Mother India, which is one of the mile stones in Hindi cinema. I would like to talk about Deewar which I think, you know, came at a particular time in Indian history. Also, it was the time of certain national appeals especially, the emergency in India, during that periods. So, it was a turbulent time. It was also historically, a very important period in our history. So, this is the significance of Deewar and of course, the fag that it gave birth to it, consolidated Amitabh Bachchan’s position as one of the greatest superstars or leading men in Indian cinema. It is still referred to very frequently, seriously and sometimes, frivolously, particularly in a Hindi movie called Loins of Punjab and A.R.Rehman to in his academy award, acceptance speech, quoting the famous line from Deewar [FL].

Political messages in most Hindi films are concealed within entertainment. Films use thrilling & entertaining plots mixed with political content in order to convey their messages to the public. Films not only reflect reality but also construct the political ideology. The public is generally unaware of the extent to which they are being influenced, managed and conditioned by the political discourses in Hindi films. This study attempts to conduct the discourse analysis on the Hindi film “Chakravyuh” to find how politics and entertainment are merged together to influence public opinion. The film is based on the dark, largely-unexposed world of the Naxalites fighting for their land and dignity. Discourse analysis of the film will help in exploring how an entertaining film can carry a meaningful message. For over 40 years in India, since the emergence of the Naxalite rebellion, cinema has drawn inspiration from the rupture caused by this iconic movement in Indian political history. Hindi films seem to have woken up to Naxalism, or Maoism, as it is more commonly known today.
