  • 2019 Fall Sports Program Every Athlete a Disciple Cambridge Christian Lancers
CAMBRIDGE CHRISTIAN LANCERS 20 19 2019 FALL SPORTS PROGRAM EVERY ATHLETE A DISCIPLE BOWLING | CHEERLEADING | CROSS COUNTRY FOOTBALL | GOLF | VOLLEYBALL LANCER ATHLETIC FAMILY: The middle and high school years are a time for exploring new things, developing talents, and discovering passions. Athletics provide a great venue for this growth. The only thing that rivals our own athletic experience is cheering on our children as they experience the same. I think the butterflies in my stomach were (and are) more active as a parent than they were even as a student-athlete. We view all Lancers as our own, so the butterflies are alive and well every week! Athletics mirror life. The ups are tremendous, and the downs can feel devastating. As parents, let’s commit to building our children up. Let’s stop short of living vicariously through our kids, and let’s be clear about communicating where athletics fall in the scope of life. Our athletics motto is, “Every Athlete a Disciple.” Towards that end, may we model putting Christ first and others next. Utopia is doing these things and picking up some championship banners along the way! Still, championships without Christ and character are empty and temporary. When our student-athletes see us model a consistent walk with Christ, the chance of them striving for the same increases dramatically. We are preparing students for college, which for some will include athletics, but more importantly, we are preparing them for life. I look forward to cheering on our kiddos alongside you this year! Shawn Minks Shawn Minks Head of School ATHLETIC DIRECTOR PROFILE: Mark Butler is in his 31st year in Christian education as teacher, coach and Athletic Director and has been instrumental in building and leading many award winning athletic programs.

  • Continued Prayers………
LIONS PRIDE Lions pride Monthly Newsletter ISSUE: MAY 2018 C ontinued Prayers……… We want to ask our HCA Family for continued healing prayers for Dr. Bryan. We look forward to a fast recovery and having him back soon. God Bless! LIONS PRIDE | May 2018 2 May in Athletics Update for our Lady Lions Varsity Softball Team Congratulations to the Lady Lions Varsity Softball team on their win in the District 2A-5 quarterfinal game. They defeated Foundation Christian Academy by a score of 11-1. Despite a slow start offensively, the Lions' defense was unstoppable and committed no errors in the game. Pitcher Madison Hamilton faced a total of 23 batters, but only had two hits and two walks against her. The entire defense backed her up with solid play on the ground and in the air. Once the bats started getting hot in the fifth and sixth inning, the Lions were able to put it away with a walk off run by Esther Jackson. This was truly a team effort and everyone had a part in the win. In the semifinal game, the Lions faced Academy at the Lakes on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. The team went into the game strong, but Academy at the Lakes ended up with the win. Congratulations to our Lady Lions for a fantastic softball season! Check out our Lady Lions Tennis! This year our HCA girls’ team had a first. All girls had a winning record for the 2018 season. Additionally, the Lions had two district champions: At #4 Singles, Courtney McLain and #5 Singles, Ann Manuel.

Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year award to be announced in June, Kilfoyl joins an elite alumni association of past state softball award-winners, including Catherine Osterman (2000-01, Cy Spring High School, Texas), Kelsey Stewart (2009-10, Arkansas City High School, Kan.), Carley Hoover (2012-13 D.W. The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot-2 senior, right-handed pitcher and first baseman led the Wildcats to a 19-7 record and the Class 2A state championship this past season. A shoulder injury kept Kilfoyl out of the circle for a month during the season, but she still posted a 14-1 record with a 0.48 ERA, striking out 134 batters in 73 innings pitched while allowing just 15 hits.
