The Library is excited to be hosting two author presentations in September. Both presentations are free and open to everyone, plus light refreshments will be served. The following week, on Tuesday 27 September at 7 p.m. author and performer Bob Bossin will read from his prizewinning book Davy the Punk, depicting his father’s life in ’s gambling underworld of the 1930s and 40s. Yukon government has received an application to amend the West Dawson and Sunnydale Local Area Plan as follows: Re-designate Lot 1015 (Rem), Quad 116 B/3, Plan 73502 LTO, consisting of approximately 38 ha, from Agriculture (AG) to Proposed Residential (PR). The purpose of the proposed amendment is to facilitate further residential subdivision of the parent lot by allowing for lot sizes less than the 3 hectare minimum specified under the Agricultural (AG) designation of the local area plan. Under the local area plan, proposals to re-designate private land triggers a plan review process, which includes public notification and a requirement for a public meeting. The public meeting will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on September 7, 2016 at the Yukon Order of Pioneers Lodge in Dawson City. The applicant will be available to answer questions on the proposed amendment. Written comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted until September 30, 2016. Comments can be mailed to: Land Planning branch K320LP, Department of Energy Mines and Resources, Box 2703, Whitehorse, Yukon, Y1A 2C6, fax 867-393-6340, or by email to [email protected]. I've said it, you've heard it...the sky's the limit...I have ex- perienced another sphere. An emotivesphere - the point where the outermost layer of the earth's atmosphere and the innermost emotion of gratitude meet. Yes, it was out of this world!

Volunteering with Special Olympics Yukon in July opened my eyes and widened my vision. I saw determination. I witnessed fear. I shouted support at the top of my lungs and I whispered, “you are amazing” to every athlete. We "Lethigh mefived win, and but hugged! if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."

The Sun obtained funding in late 2009 from the City of Dawson, YTG’s Heritage Branch and the Community Development Fund to conserve and archive early issues and make them available once again in the public domain. This is a great resource for students, writers and historians, and also for prospective tourists with an interest in Dawson City’s life. Each month, we are re-printing our front pages from 20 years ago as a souvenir of our lively history. If you want to see page 2 and beyond, check out our website. Past issues are available there for download. Go to http://klondikesun.com. More will be added periodically when we have time! In 1996, we became a bi-weekly. Should 20 Years Ago be a feature of every issue of the Sun from now on? Let us know. P18 WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2016 THE KLONDIKE SUN
