This tradition is moving venues so bring your lawn chairs or blankets and come out to the Park in the Square to enjoy movies under the stars as the City of Woodstock’s 12th season of Movies in the Park gets underway. Movies in the Park remains free of charge and will begin as close to 8:00 as darkness will allow. Of course, we will again be joined by RC Juggles who will provide pre-movie fun for kids of all ages. This summer’s movies premiere on Friday, June 23rd in Park in the Square with the showing of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This movie is a prequel to the Harry Potter series about the magical creatures in the Harry Potter universe. Fantastic Beasts… purports to be a reproduction of a textbook owned by Harry Potter and written by Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards 70 years before Harry Potter reads his book in school. This popular movie is rated PG13 and runs for 133 minutes. The second movie this season will be held on Thursday, July 13th beginning at 8:00 PM as part of our very special event, Summer in the Park. Bring your friends and family and come out to watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story under “the big tent” in Emricson Park. Former scientist Galen Erso’s peaceful existence comes crashing down when the evil Orson Krennic takes him away from his beloved family. Many years later, Galen is now the Empire’s lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Knowing that her father holds the key to its destruction, a vengeful Jyn joins forces with a spy and other resistance fighters to steal the space station’s plans for the Rebel Alliance. Movies in the Park returns to Park in the Square on Friday, August 11th for our third and final movie of the season, Grease – a Sing-along! In Grease, local boy Danny Zuko and vacationing Sandy Olson met at the beach and fell in love. When the summer comes to an end, Sandy, who is going back to Australia, frets that they may never meet again, but Danny tells her that their love is “only the beginning”. When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance? This movie is rated PG13 and runs for 85 minutes.
