Following the work of Peter Brooks on melodrama, the exploitation film is a mode concerned with spectacular violence and its relationship to the political, as defined by French philosopher Jacques Rancière. For Rancière, the political is an “intervention into the visible and sayable,” where members of a community who are otherwise uncounted come to be seen as part of the community through a “redistribution of the sensible.” This aesthetic rupture allows the demands of the formerly-invisible to be seen and considered. We can see this operation at work in the exploitation film, and by investigating a series of exploitation auteurs, we can augment our understanding of what Rancière means by the political.

But now, after an emotionally brutal week, an abused Jennifer has cut off Conrad's penis - and taken it with her for ransom! A doctor has advised Conrad that if found immediately, there is some hope for re-attachment. But where is Jennifer hiding? Vengeful and furious, Conrad blunders gun first into the underworld of her “blue-film” past, to find her – and his missing member! Starring MICHAEL RODRICK ( Another World, Desolation Angels ), renowned cult actress DEBBIE ROCHON (‘Scream Queen of the Decade'), real life porn legend FRANK OLIVIER (as Daddy Mac), and directed by award winning filmmaker TIM MCCANN ( Revolution #9 , Desolation Angels ), NOWHERE MAN probes and cauterizes the preposterousness of love and revenge. It is both a nasty little film noir and a black humored treatise on the ever shifting balance of power in human relationships.

  • Lloyd Kaufman – 1998
Naturalmente riferendosi a Michael Herz. E come dargli torto?

This thesis discusses perspectives on the onnagata in film and scholarship, with an emphasis on Western perspective and representation. It discusses the idea of ‘kabuki queerness’ and onnagata as a staged gender. It also proposes different configurations that would allow women to join kabuki without injecting reality into theatre. v Table of Contents Introduction ..............................................................................................................1

  • GREETINGS from TROMAVILLE Press
Documentary Feature Directed by Adrian Esposito Produced by Kristina Nomeika Contact: [email protected] LOGLINE Greetings from Tromaville! follows the history of Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Entertainment, an independent film company that has produced edgy, bold, humorous, and sometimes “over the top” films for more than 40 years. Troma Entertainment co-founder Lloyd Kaufman talks with a horror convention fan Iconic director and producer of independent film Frequent Troma actor Ron Jeremy Roger Corman SYNOPSIS Greetings from Tromaville! follows the life and work of independent film champion, Lloyd Kaufman, and the history of Troma Entertainment. Lloyd, along with his partner Michael Herz, founded Troma in 1974. Troma is an independent film company that has produced edgy, bold, humorous, and sometimes “over the top” films for more than 40 years. Troma’s films make a strong statement about visual art and its psychological effect on viewers. Troma films now have a world wide fan base and cult following. In fact, upon the announcement of the production of a Troma film, fans travel from all over the world just for the experience of being in a Troma production. Many come at their own cost and work in challenging circumstances. Independent films like Troma’s, with innovative and shocking content, ultimately contributed to a change in Hollywood films, which followed Troma’s lead in presenting more graphic visuals. But behind their facade of sex and violence are often topical or political themes that even today Hollywood films won’t touch. The documentary features interviews with “B” movie legends Roger Corman, Debbie Rochon, and Ron Jeremy, as well as actors Mark Torgl, Dan Snow, Robert Prichard, Gary Schneider, Bill Weeden, Will Keenan, Trent Haaga, Caleb Emerson, Jason Yachanin, John Karyus, Zac Amico, Mike Baez, and Vito Trigo.
