The Finalists and Outstanding Performer Selection Process

A convention of the AMP Committee of Directors is called after the final votes are taken and no less than one week before the AMP Awards Ceremony. The convention will consist of a minimum of three Directors which may include the Managing Director of each theatre and those as agreed to by the Academy of Directors. In attendance in the role of oversight and observation and without involvement in discussion or influence shall be a non-voting observer appointed by the Chief Executive Officer. In attendance in the role of record-keeping and observation and without involvement in discussion or influence, shall be the Chairman of the AMP Committee duly elected by the Board of Directors or his/her appointee.

Directors are advised to vote based on the quality of the performer’s body of work, their performance in a particular role or production, their attitude and work ethic, and their behavior both on-stage and off. Beginning at the highest-level categories as dictated by the Academy, the Director’s vote is tabulated and where there is a plurality, the Finalist or Runner Up is chosen without discussion.

The determination of the Academy of Directors is Final. NTPA reserves the sole right to add, change, delete categories, Finalists, selection criteria, decisions and is the exclusive producer of the AMP Awards Ceremony.
