Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00pm Lessons and Carols is a beautiful service with scripture readings, special choir performances and carol sing-a-longs. This prayer and praise service prepares our hearts for the coming of Christ. This year, we will explore Advent and Christmas carols in a new light and maybe find a new carol to fall in love with! Lessons and Carols will be led by our own music ministry groups active at St. Michael’s Parish, as well as our parish lectors. The service is appropriate for the whole family, and will be less than an hour long. We invite you to sing your way into the holiday spirit!

Greetings! When I talk about Advent with young chil- dren, I like to discuss the things we have to do before a celebration. What if we did not do anything to get ready for a birthday party? Would there be food, decorations, or pres- ents? #ey always agree that preparing to cel- ebrate is important. What should our preparation look like? If it is only focused on external ways of get- ting ready—shopping, baking, decorating, cleaning our homes—we can lose ourselves in trying to make Christmas magical and pin- terest-perfect. Indeed, from Thanksgiving onward, images of a perfect Christmas bom- bard us. So how can we prepare? Stepping away from the carefully curated images on social media and television can help us to stop com- paring ourselves to others. December is a busy time for families.
