Nieuwe Releases Klik Op De Hoes Voor De Single NIEUWE RELEASES KLIK OP DE HOES VOOR DE SINGLE The Raconteurs – Help Us Stranger CD/LP Na elf jaar is daar dan eindelijk de opvolger van 'Consolers Of The Lonely’ en de fans zullen absoluut niet teleurgesteld worden want wat een te gekke plaat is dit. Echt een schot in de roos voor iedere fan van Jack White en/of The Raconteurs. Zéér diverse plaat waar het typische Jack White gitaargeluid en vibe onmiskenbaar terug te horen is en waar uptempo songs afgewisseld worden met bijna ballad-achtige nummers. Fijne plaat die niet snel zal vervelen. TIP! Bruce Springsteen – Western Stars CD/2LP De fans van Bruce vallen dit jaar met hun neus in de boter, er komen maar liefst twee albums uit van deze muzikale grootheid. ‘Western Stars’ is de eerste plaat en is een solo-album, het verschil hoor je meteen. Rustige nummers met veel ruimte voor diverse instrumenten zoals strijkinstrumenten, blazers en pedalsteel gitaar. Anders dan met de E-Street band dus maar minstens net zo interessant. Bill Callahan – Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest CD/MC/2LP In de Volkskrant kreeg deze plaat vier sterren incl. prachtige en treffende recensie geschreven door Gijsbert Kamer. Een recensie waar ik eigenlijk niets aan toe te voegen heb dus verwijs ik je graag daar naartoe via deze link Voor de liefhebbers van o.a. Leonard Cohen, Tindersticks, Lamchop en Will Oldham! Heather Nova – Pearl CD/LP Vandaag komt het nieuwe album van Heather Nova uit, helaas heb ik dus nog niet het hele album kunnen horen maar alles lijkt erop alsof dit weer een pareltje wordt. De vijftigjarige singer-/songwriter heeft voor deze tiende plaat de hulp ingeroepen van producer Youth, hij was ook de producer van haar meesterlijke debuut album ‘Oyster’. Je begrijpt het… de verwachtingen zijn dus hoog maar aan de eerste twee singles ‘Just Kids’ en ‘The Wounds We Bled’ te horen worden deze verwachtingen zonder moeite ingelost! Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real – Turn Of The News (Build A Garden) CD/2LP Lukas Nelson levert met dit album alweer zijn vierde plaat af samen met zijn band Promise Of The Real (jawel, dat is dezelfde band die al twee platen met Neil Young hebben gemaakt en met hem op tour zijn geweest). Opener ‘Bad Case’ geeft meteen een prima indruk van dit nieuwe album en laat horen wat Lukas in huis heeft. Lukas plus band blijken waardige opvolgers van Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, maar doen soms ook denken aan The Travelling Wilburys, zoals in het door Roy Orbison geïnspireerde ‘Where Does Love Go’. Andere hoogtepunten zijn de ‘Civilized Hell’ (duet met pappa Willie) en het funky ‘Save a Little Heartache’, met achtergrondvocalen van Kesha. The Black Keys – Let’s Rock CD/LP Ook vandaag binnen, de nieuwe plaat van The Black Keys! Een nieuwe Black Keys, dat is goed nieuws! Het is inmiddels alweer vijf jaar geleden dat ‘Turn Blue’ uitkwam, een album waar velen aan moesten wennen. De gitaarsound die we kenden van The Black Keys klonk ineens een stuk ‘smoother’ en de rauwe randjes waren weggepolijst. Ondanks dat ook ik daar even aan moest wennen bleek de plaat toch meer dan de moeite waard te zijn. Op de nieuwe plaat hoor je een mooie tussenweg van het oude en nieuwe materiaal, catchy maar niet gepolijst. De gitaren zijn weer nadrukkelijk aanwezig, de titel doet zijn naam eer aan. Lekker!! Madonna – Madame X CD/2CD/2LP/2LP PD/ 2CD+MC+7” PD Jammer van het SongFestival incident maar laat je er niet door beïnvloeden want op deze nieuwe plaat van Madonna hoor je een artieste van formaat, een artieste die weet wat ze wil en wat ze doet. Je voelt de strijdbaarheid over de gehele plaat, geen concessies, een gedurfde plaat en misschien wel de meest theatrale ooit van haar. Met invloeden uit nieuwe hoeken, zoals bijvoorbeeld Latin! Zeer welkom na, de wat mij betreft niet zo sterke twee voorgangers,: ‘Rebel Heart’ en ‘MDNA’. Check single ‘Dark Ballet’ voor een indruk en klik op de hoes voor de track ‘Medellín’ ft Maluma. Wil je zeker zijn van een exemplaar op de releasedag….. reserveer deze dan! Thom Yorke – Anima CD/LP/LP LTD coloured Release: 19 juli 2019 Ter gelegenheid van dit nieuwe Thom Yorke album heeft Paul Thomas Anderson een zogezegde ‘One-Reeler’ gemaakt met de gelijknamige titel. Deze korte film zal vanaf 27 juni te zien zijn op Netflix. Het album is geschreven door Thom Yorke en geproduceerd door Nigel Godrich. Waarschijnlijk moet je nu denken aan ‘Suspiria’ wat een behoorlijk experimenteel en met name instumenteel album is geworden maar ‘Anima’ is daar niet mee te vergelijken. ‘Anima’ klinkt zoals je Thom Yorke wilt horen, elektronisch maar wel met vocalen! TIP voor iedere Thom Yorke en (de latere) Radiohead fan! Osdorp Posse – Kernramp LP/LP LTD coloured Release: 26 juli 2019 Ok, dit is niet echt nieuw natuurlijk maar deze klassieker uit 2000 komt nu wel eindelijk voor het eerst uit op vinyl en daar zullen velen heel blij om zijn! Snelle beslissers maken kans op het gelimiteerde blauw gekleurde exemplaar. In de tussentijd hopen we dat de rest van Osdorp natuurlijk ook op plaat uit gaat komen! Of Monsters And Man – Fever Dream CD/LP Release: 26 juli 2019 De IJslandse band Of Monsters And Men kende sinds 2011 een enorm succes, vooral dankzij de hitsingle ‘Little Talks’ (zeven jaar geleden alweer…..time flies!) Anno 2019 zijn ze twee albums, miljoenen streams én een song in het zesde seizoen van Games of Thrones verder en keert de groep terug met ‘Fever Dream’, hun derde langspeler. Eerste single is ‘Alligator’ (als je van kleurige en bijzondere visuals houdt… bekijk dan zeker de clip even). The main argument indicates that Madonna has used postmodern strategies of representation to challenge the foundational truths of sex and gender, promote gender deconstruction and sexual multiplicity, create political sites of resistance, question the Catholic dissociation between the physical and the divine, and bring visual and musical influences from multiple cultures and marginalized identities. Her career is based on an overall direction that incorporates vision, customer and industry insight, leveraging competences and weaknesses, consistent implementation, and a drive towards continuous renewal. She constructed herself often rewriting her past, organized her own cult borrowing from multiple subaltern subcultures, and targeted different audiences. As a postmodern icon, Madonna also reflects social contradictions and attitudes toward sexuality and religion and addresses the complexities of race and gender. Her use of multiple media—music, concert tours, films, and videos—shows how images and symbols associated with multiracial, LGBT, and feminist groups were inserted into the mainstream. She gave voice to political interventions in mass popular culture, although many critics argue that subaltern voices were co-opted to provide maximum profit.
