  • Lepidoptera: Crambidae) New to the Fauna of Croatia
Acta entomologica serbica, 20 20 , 25(1): xx -xx UDC DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3735368 THREE MONTANE GRASS MOTHS (LEPIDOPTERA: CRAMBIDAE) NEW TO THE FAUNA OF CROATIA TONI KOREN Association Hyla, Lipovac I 7, HR-10000 Zagreb, Croatia E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Three species of grass moths (Crambidae) were recorded for the first time in Croatia. Udea alpinalis and Crambus ericella were found on the peaks of Mts. Guslica and Snježnik in Gorski Kotar region, while Catoptria pyramidellus was recorded on various mountain chains across the country. The discovery of three montane species in Croatia demonstrates the lack of Microlepidoptera surveys in these areas and the need for further research. KEY WORDS : Udea alpinalis, Crambus ericella, Catoptria pyramidellus, diversity , Gorski Kotar, mountains Introduction Grass moths (Crambidae) belong to one of the best studied Microlepidoptera groups in Europe, with a surprising number of available publications (Leraut, 2012; Slamka, 2006, 2008, 2013). However, the Crambidae fauna of many countries, especially in eastern Europe, has remained poorly studied. This is easily noticeable from the distribution maps published in a book series “Pyraloidea of Europe” (Slamka, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2019). Here, the highest occurrence of species is shown for Croatia, with a very limited number of records in eastern Europe. Only recently, a tentative checklist of all Pyraloidea of Croatia was published (Gumhalter, 2019). Although the checklist is based almost entirely on published papers and the examination of several smaller collections, it is useful as a good starting point to explore the Crambidae and Pyralidae fauna of the country. 2 T.

KARLOVAC, 2015. SAŽETAK Čovjek od davnina nastoji zabilježiti prizore životinja. U posljednja dva stoljeća to je olakšano razvojem tehnike fotografiranja. Fotografiranje divljih životinja uvelike olakšavaju fotozamke – uređaji koji automatski, bez prisutnosti čovjeka snimaju fotografije životinja. Fotozamke imaju značajnu ulogu i u ekološkim istraživanjima jer nam omogućuju proučavanje brojnosti, gustoće i ponašanja životinja.

Keywords: 7HR/Lynx lynx/management/management plan/description/biology/distribution/lynx/action plan Abstract: The plan is structured in three main units. The first unit deals with the methodology of its preparation. Due to a specific innovative approach to the method of formulating the management plan we deemed it necessary and, hopefully, beneficial to include a detailed description of the management plan formulation. The following, i.e. the second unit provides a summarized insight into the essentials of the management plan preparation such as the description of relevant regulations and documents, the biology of the Eurasian lynx, its number and distribution in Croatia and similar. And finally, the third unit is the management plan itself, specifying all necessary and conditionally necessary actions required to achieve the management plan objective and the manner in which these actions are to be undertaken. GUIDE TO NATIONAL PARKS AND NATURE PARKS IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA Parks of Croatia CROATIA TICKETS > 1 We cherish the riches that nature has been creating for centuries Mihael Zmajlović Minister of Environmental and Nature Protection If we measured the extent to which nature is preserved, Croatia would be among the richest countries of Europe. We have every right to say proudly that Croatia is the national park of Europe. A third of our territory belongs to the world’s largest network of protected areas, the Natura 2000 network. Under the title of Parks of Croatia there are 8 National Parks and 11 Nature Parks. Each one is unique, regardless of their location in Croatia – on the sea, in the coastal area, continental or mountainous parts. Everyone will surely find the incredible diversity of landscape fascinating. Apart from the natural beauty, the parks offer various other facilities and services to their visitors – walks, visitors’ centres, bike and mountain trails, boat rides or for example mountain climbing, canoeing and deep-sea diving for the more adventurous ones. That is why they are all worth the visit which is confirmed by about 3 million visitors who are attracted to them every year. This brochure presents the natural riches of Parks, their particular features and attractions managed by the employees of public institutions governing the Parks whose preservation is the objective of activities implemented by the Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection. You can plan your visit on the joint web site www.parkovihrvatske.hr , or even apply to do some voluntary work in one of the Parks.
