The Panel confirmed that the sanction applicable is two years from the date of his provisional suspension which was effective from 6 May 2013. Dumontelle tested positive for Methandienone and his defence was that he was not aware that a supplement he was taking contained a banned substance. This incident highlights the need for all Member Associations (MAs) to continually remind athletes to be aware of the Anti-Doping Regulations and the need to be responsible for any substance they are taking. The WCF will continue to provide information on testing and banned substances and asks for the support of MAs in doing all they can to ensure that athletes read and understand the information sent to them. Through such activity athletes will be reminded of their responsibility to know what they are taking, even when prescribed by a doctor, and ensure they take extra precautions with the content of nutritional supplements. August 2013 Newsletter Page 3 Development WCF Füssen Camps & Courses 2013 A total of 176 participants from 25 MAs attended this year’s camps and courses in Füssen, Germany between 29 June and 13 July 2013. Four junior teams and coaches from Finland, Latvia and host Netherlands enjoyed off-ice and on-ice instruction from WCF staff members Eeva Röthlisberger and Scott Arnold, Czech Republic coach Dan Rafael and camp founder Shari Leibbrandt. Curling was not the only form of activity at camp. Structured workouts at the gym and a trip to a water park were highlights. Plans are already underway for next year’s camp so watch for announcements on the WCF website and in this newsletter.
