Green Roof Research Area

From air pollution and climate change, to loss of biodiversity and threatened aquatic ecosystems, the world’s environmental challenges have never been greater. Uniting students and professors from all of the university’s environmental programs, The School of the Environment is not only a hub for environmental education, but a force for change. Here, professors are active researchers who will help you understand both the local and global eco-challenges we face. With hands-on learning opportunities in the classroom, the lab, and the field, School of the Environment students gain the skills needed to help lead tomorrow’s change.

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES VS ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE.

What’s the difference? Environmental Studies takes a broad, integrated approach to solving environmental issues with a focus on the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences, whereas Environmental Science relies heavily on science-based ecological and analytical tools to tackle environmental issues. Both programs incorporate creative and integrated approaches to considering environmental issues.
