N44° 17.028' W87° 46.623' Daylight Only This place is known locally as Hotel Hell. The building burned three times, each time on the exact same date. It was rebuilt twice. The first fire was in the 1920s. The last fire was in 1930 and everybody died in their sleep. The spirits of those killed in the hotel have lingered in the building. This spiritual activity attracted a group of local Black Witches who conducted secret rituals to curse the hotel and in the process they opened up a portal to Hell through an old fountain in the front of the hotel. This unleashed a horde of evil spirits that terrorized the town of Maribel. Fortunately, a White Witch came to the rescue, sealing off the portal and confining the demons to the boundaries of the hotel and the surrounding yard. They chanced upon a cemetery, and pulled up to the gates to decide what to do with themselves for the remainder of the evening. Soundlessly, unaided, the closed cemetery iron gates swung open. Open-mouthed, they stared. No one was there; the breeze gentle. Yet the gate had swung back, with no visible agent. Again, howling here. Howling there. Howling everywhere, ringing all around them. Bernard sees the apparition first. At least six feet tall, hunched near a crooked leaning headstone, a black human-like shape without noticeable neck. The figure is completely black, a three dimensional shadowy blotch against the fading light. It disappears. Reappears by another headstone, howling all the while. They all see it, now. 90. OTN - Old Town Negaunee – Negaunee, MI Points: 1800

N46° 29.792' W87° 37.594' With massive mining operations taking place in “Old Town” from the mid-1800s until the early 1900s, the very ground that the town was built on began to crumble. The mines had begun to cave, eating up sheds and outlying buildings before it was ultimately decided that Negaunee — built quite literally on the iron ore beneath the feet of its residents — would have to relocate. Homes were either demolished or transported by semi to the north and east end of town, and by the late 1950s, nothing remained of Old Town. As you pass through the area be alert for apparitions from the past that still linger in the remains. There are small signs designating where some of the old residences were.
