DIS - Disciascio's – Coon Valley, WI Points: 1000 N43° 42.142' W91° 01.108' DiSciascio’s was an Italian restaurant in operation for 26 years until 2013, when it was replaced by Legacy Grill. The spirits here were first noticed long ago when the building housed a bar. Witnesses have described a ghost lady, who has been nicknamed Mary by restaurant staff, and objects have been known to fly off shelves on their own. According to the very faded mural on the west side of the Legacy what year was Coon Valley 150 years old? Answer: _____________________________________________________________________________ Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 4. BOS - Hotel Boscobel, Central House – Boscobel, WI Points: 1000 N43° 08.076' W90° 42.346' This hotel’s claim to fame is that it was the spot where the Gideon’s Bible originated. The ghost of Adam Bobel, the hotel’s original builder, has been seen here by employees and guests alike. In 1890, a baby was found in a shoebox next to a lamp post in front of the hotel. It was snowing, so the abandoned infant was named Snowflake. She lived to be 12, and at least according to some legends, loved the hotel so much that she has never left. Snowflake showed up periodically at the foot of guests' beds for years. There are neon beer signs in the three windows to the right of the front door. Name one of the beers. Answer: _____________________________________________________________________________ Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 5. SCC - St. Charles Cemetery – Genoa, WI Points: 1000 N43° 34.224' W91° 13.293' Balls of light are seen at night in the old section of the cemetery. The old section is separated from the rest of the cemetery by trees and a deep gully. Eagle Street goes through a church parking lot, at the far end you'll see the St Charles Cemetery arch. Just past the arch keep left, follow as straight as possible to a wide paved spot where you'll see some stairs. A few tiers up the stairs on the left is a very distinct headstone for Lockington. What is the transportation vehicle depicted on the headstone? Answer: _____________________________________________________________________________ Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 2 6. MPV - Mineral Point Vampire – Mineral Point, WI Points: 1600 N42° 51.431' W90° 11.711' In 1981 reports began to circulate about a vampire that had taken up residence in Mineral Point’s Graceland cemetery. As recently as 2008, police have been contacted regarding a tall, caped figure with a white face harassing and terrorizing residents, as well as trespassing in cemeteries after dark. On each occasion, police arrived on the scene and the figure ran. When the police gave chase, the “vampire” would disappear without a trace, at one point easily scaling a 10′ concrete wall. Allen Ludden of Password fame the 60's game show is buried here at Graceland cemetery, coincidence? I don't think so. Waypoint is at the grave site. Go straight in the main entrance and take the third right. About half way down that road you will see a large pine tree on your left. The Ludden grave is just on the other side of the tree. Get a photo of the Ludden grave marker. Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 7. WWF - Whitewater Falls Cemetery - Elba, MN Points: 1200 N44° 08.245' W92° 00.308' In the mid 1800's there was a massive flood that wiped out the original location of the cemetery. All of the bodies were re buried in this new spot, except one. They never found the body of George Stoning in the muck an debris. George had been buried next to his wife and is said to heard and sometime seen searching for his wife's gravesite in the new cemetery. Go north from Elba, MN on Hwy 74 3.7 miles where you'll find a small dirt parking area. To the left in the parking area there's a gate with a yellow State Wildlife Area sign, this is where the waypoint is. Follow the two track about 100 yards and keep right up the hill to the cemetery. As you crest the top of the hill look to your right and you'll see a large headstone for McRay on it it says “Gone but not Forgotten”. Get a photo of the McRay headstone. Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 8. ERC - Eagle Road Cemetery/Tabor Cemetery - Juneau, WI Points: 1200 N43° 21.414' W88° 41.063' Daylight only Eagle Road Cemetery, aka Evangelical Church Cemetery or Tabor Cemetery, is a hot spot for activity. Witnesses have seen apparitions and felt cold spots and gusts here, and some have seen the Virgin Mary or experienced stigmata (bleeding from the hands and arms) after leaving. We looked at the Schumacher headstone and saw a little kid peeking out from behind it. The waypoint is at the entrance. The Schumacher headstone is large and rough cut in the front third of the cemetery. Get a photo of the Schumacher headstone. Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 3 9. LBC - LaBelle Cemetery - Oconomowoc, WI Points: 1100 N43° 06.736' W88° 29.285' Daylight Only People have seen the apparition of this girl walking down the steps of this marker and heading toward the lake to drown herself. Legend here surrounds a large statue of a young girl and a cross. It is said that her apparition appears from the statue and drowns itself in Lac La Belle, or that her statue’s hands drip blood. This monument was erected in the 1940s. The waypoint is at the bonus. This marker is for a family plot, Nathusius, in front of the marker with the girl are 4 small headstones. What is the name on the headstone farthest to the right? Answer: _____________________________________________________________________________ Date:___________________ Time:____________________ Odometer:__________________________ 10. HCR - Heaven City Restaurant – Mukwonago, WI Points: 1200 N42° 52.654' W88° 18.182' Heaven City was named after the failed religious commune started by AJ Moore and Madam Talcott in Mukwonago during the 1930s, and since the restaurant’s opening, customers and employees have reported strange things happening there. Odd thumping noises would occur, ghostly apparitions would pop up unexpectedly, and even a flowery, lilac perfume scent would fill the entire restaurant at random times. Could it just be a coincidence the founder of the religious commune, Madam Talcott, reportedly wore lilac perfume back when she was still alive? The restaurant is presently closed. Towards the road from the restaurant there is a large carving from a dead tree of a Native American.

A mild trumpet fanfare is heard and a voice announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, Orson Bean!" The curtain parts and out leaps a middle-aged man with a tidy beard, a white silk in his jacket's breast pocket, and a bow tie over his fancy turtleneck sweater. As soon as I see him I wonder, "What about Garry Moore, the regular host, the man who resurrected the bow tie, the man who by sheer personal persistence made the bow tie acceptable to the masses, the man without whose efforts Orson Bean could not possibly be standing there on national television wearing a bow tie?" As if to answer my question, Orson Bean begins to talk. "Ladies and gentlebeans, Garry Moore is unable to host the show tonight. It seems he is suffering from an acute identity crisis. He received a letter yesterday from a woman in Kansas troubled by the number of o's in Garry's last name. She asked how it could be that if the number of o's in his last name was less, then it would be more. Garry brooded over this mystical paradox all morning. Finally, letter in hand, he took a stroll through the garden and ended up at the post office where he forgave the befuddled postmaster for allowing such a letter to be delivered.

We thought, therefore, that a few quizzes and trivia might be of some interest to you. If you like them, we will go ahead and send over to you similar “activity items” every few days. May God pour out His mercies on you, on our caregivers and health officials, our political leaders, and on all those already dealing with not only the coronavirus but all other health issues. BETTY WHITE Although she turned 90 in January, 2012, it won’t slow down comedy legend Betty White, one of the funniest and busiest actresses in Hollywood. With a career that has spanned more than 60 years, the seven-time Emmy Award winner has created unforgettable roles in television and film, authored seven books and won numerous awards, including those for her lifelong work for animal welfare. White’s first comedy series, “Life with Elizabeth,” brought her first Emmy Award in 1952, followed by a daily NBC talk/variety show called “The Betty White Show.” She was a recurring regular with over 70 appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jack Paar,” and appeared on “The Merv Griffin Show” and “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.” She also subbed as host on all three talk shows. White was a regular with Vicki Lawrence on “Mama’s Family,” as sister Ellen, a role she created with the rest of the company on “The Carol Burnett Show.” Her recurring role as “Happy Homemaker” Sue Ann Nivens in the classic series “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” brought two Emmys for Best Supporting Actress in 1974-75 and 1975-76. She received her fourth Emmy for Best Daytime Game Show Host for “Just Men.” Nominated seven times for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls,” White won the Emmy the first season in 1985, and later appeared in the spin-off “The Golden Palace” for one season. She earned her next Emmy Award as Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series on “The John Larroquette Show.” White was nominated for an Emmy in 2011 for her portrayal of “Elka,” the snarky but lovable caretaker on the TV Land series “Hot in Cleveland,” in which she stars alongside Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick.
