Buzzr Offers New Marathons, Promo Campaign to Ring in 2017 01.18.2017 FremantleMedia's digital retro game show network, Buzzr, is adding new programming, new distribution and a new promotional campaign to ring in 2017. The network, which launched in June 2015, features such classic game shows as Match Game, Super Password, Tattletales, Body Language and To Tell the Truth. It's currently available in 18 of the top 20 markets and 21 of the top 25 on Fox owned stations as well as on cable operators such as Spectrum, Comcast/Xfinity, Verizon, Frontier, Cablevision, Cox and Charter. It also offers Buzzr After Hours on Canada's Yes TV. To celebrate the holidays, Buzzr again this year ran "A Betty White Christmas," a marathon of its favorite episodes featuring beloved star Betty White, who was married to iconic game-show host Allen Ludden. To kick off the New Year, Buzzr is hosting its second annual Buzzr Bowl, which turns the spotlight on athletes who took their turns on TV games. For example, in 1989, the Cincinnati Bengals faced off against the San Francisco 49ers on Family Feud, and the Detroit Lions' Alex Karras appeared as a panelist on Match Game. Episodes featuring athletes will air in advance of Super Bowl LI, starting Jan. 30 and running through Feb. 3 in primetime. On game day, Feb. 5, the network will air a marathon of that programming starting at 1 pm ET and running through 6 pm ET. Once those two programming events have ended, Buzzr on Feb. 6 will launch a new promotional campaign, titled "Odd Jobs," featuring the unsung heroes of TV game shows, such as Ken, who collected the cards as celebrities dropped them on Match Game, and Gladys, who trained models in the hard work of showcasing prizes. "As we rounded out the conclusion of the year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of the TV game show in 2016, we realized that we had achieved a number of the goals we had set out to accomplish with Buzzr," said Ron Garfield, executive vice president and general manager of Buzzr, in a statement. "We've created a multi-platform and multi-generational network for viewing retro game show content, providing 2- hour entertainment to our fans. With more great things to come, we anticipate 2017 will be another year of growth and expansion for the Buzzr network.".
