Sneaky Foot 2017. Con Este Su Tercer Álbum Patrik Jansson Da Un Paso Al Frente En Su Carrera Musical Que Se Augura Con Muy Buena Estrella The Patrik Jansson Band “So Far To Go”. Sneaky Foot 2017. With his third album Patrik Jansson goes a step forward in his musical career that foresees with a promising future. Deeply influenced by Chicago blues, his music has evolved following in the footsteps of the new rock blues generation musicians like Joe Bonamasa, Walter Trout, Gary Moore, Buddy Whittington, Coco Montoya, Jeff Healey, Robert Cray or Matt Schofield, without letting aside the great old blues names like B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan or Freddie King, five stars guitar players who feed and are immediately noticed in his music. The album becomes an excellent exhibition of blues, ballads, blues-rock, funk, groove and energetic rock, all them perfectly built and performed by a group of musicians who really know to activate all the best resources in each and every one of the nine compositions that round up this interesting album. The list of the musicians involved in this "So Far To Go" includes Patrik Jansson on guitar and vocals, Gustaf Andersson on Hammond B-3, Fender Rhodes and piano, Thomas Andersson on bass and Martin Forsstedt on drums, plus the special collaboration of 2013 harmonica world champion player Mikael “Mike” Fall in the song "Too Blind To See”. GREAT. .

The cast list includes American stars and the best homegrown talent. Born in Vance, Alabama in 1939, Alabama Slim “grew up listening to the old blues since I was a child. I spent summers with my grandparents who had a farm. Them old folks would get to moanin’ while they worked, and I just started moanin’ with them. That’s where I learned to sing”. Alabama Slim is typical of the musicians playing as part of The Music Makers Blue Revue, which has been described as akin to Cuba’s Buena Vista Social Club. As a loose amalgam of elderly Southern blues stars who are on the road together. They make their Scottish debut. They headline the influx of American blues talent which also includes: Texan, Hamilton Loomis who will have you jamming and grooving along with his guitar riffs reminiscent of Kravitz and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Matt Schofield “Far As I Can See” PRD 7416 2 Going into my fifth studio record, and first for Mascot/Provogue, I had some very distinct goals in mind, and a few definite broader concepts I wanted to explore. However, I also wanted to remain open to where the process might take us, maintaining the excitement that improvising and collaborating with talented musicians allows. The inspiration and goals came from many places - things I felt hadn't fully realized on previous studio records, my influences old and new, including musicians I have wanted to work with for years, and a need to keep growing, pushing myself, and represent where I'm heading now. First and foremost I wanted to go as far as possible to capturing, on record, the same connection with the listener that I aim to make at a live show. This would require a careful selection of material, running the full emotional and dynamic range, with an emphasis on true performance, and "capturing that moment". Next, I wanted the tone colour and range of my guitar captured more faithfully in the studio than I have achieved before - to more closely represent what it sounds like when I'm standing in front of my amplifier performing, rather than a "tamed" studio version. I also wanted to push my ability and range as a singer, which requires the right studio environment. I brought in Simon Law, my long time guitar technician and live front of house mixer, to engineer in the studio. Simon knows my tone as well as I do, and his trusted pair of ears on the other side of the glass, went along way to achieving this goal.

Language Variation and Music African American English as a Lyrical Strategy in the Blues Word count: 22,317 Romeo De Timmerman Student number: 01507549 Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Stef Slembrouck A dissertation submitted to Ghent University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Linguistics and Literature: language combination English - Dutch Academic year: 2019 - 2020 [PAGE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK] I hereby grant Ghent University my written consent and permission to release and/or use this master’s dissertation as part of the university's internal self-evaluation and/or assessment procedures, internal efforts to improve teaching and learning effectiveness, or to recognize student achievement. Romeo De Timmerman, August 2020 [PAGE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK] Abstract Traditionally, language variation was considered to be governed primarily by geographical location, ethnicity and socio-economic status (Bailey & Bassett, 1986; Fasold, 1981; Labov, 1966, 1972). Over the last few decades, however, sociolinguists have started to deviate from this consensus, e.g. by examining the use of African American English [AAE] by non-African Americans (Bucholtz, 2010; Chun, 2001; Cutler, 1999, 2015; Fix, 2014; Reyes, 2005). Additionally, recent sociological and psychological research has shown that music preference plays an instrumental role in shaping the personality of individuals and their judgement of others (Chamorro-Premuzic & Furnham, 2007; Halliday, 2019; Marshall & Naumann, 2018; Rentfrow & Gosling, 2003; Vella & Mills, 2016). To date, few scholars have attempted to combine these findings to consider the potential influence music has on language use. Consequently, the present study aims to provide support for the consideration of music as a factor governing language variation by comparing the lyrical language use of blues artists with a variety of socio-cultural backgrounds.
