Santa Claus is coming to town By Sue Newman [email protected] Christmas will arrive in town on Saturday and it will arrive with all the pomp and ceremony of a full- on Santa parade. The town’s Mother Christmas, Carol Johns, is working her magic to create a Christmas parade that will break all records, and judging by the response of people wanting to take part, she could be right on target. When you’re passionate about getting into the spirit of Christ- mas, organising Ashburton’s San- ta parade is more fun than hard work, Johns said. But she has been putting in hours of work behind the scenes to ensure the parade is an abso- lute crowd pleaser. There will be all the highlights of the past with plenty of new attractions thrown into the mix, she said. Perhaps the biggest difference with this year’s parade will be the route, Johns said.
