L’animation est une filière d’excellence que nous soutenons fortement, avec une dizaine de studios et des écoles reconnues d’où sortent les meilleurs que l’on retrouve ensuite au générique de productions à succès. Bon nombre de ces créations sont réalisées en Hauts-de-France : nous sommes la 3e région productrice de films d’animation de France ! Une vraie dynamique régionale s’est créée au coeur de cette filière d’avenir et nous nous réjouissons que des événements comme Cartoon Springboard viennent à Valenciennes et offrent aux jeunes talents des écoles de formation la chance de présenter leurs projets devant un panel d’experts de la profession. Following on from Cartoon 360 last May, this time we are hosting Cartoon Springboard, an event dedicated to young animation talent from here and elsewhere. And there is certainly talent in our region! Animation is an area of excellence that we greatly support, with ten renowned studios and schools out of which come the best, who we then find in the credits of successful productions. A great deal of these creations is made in Hauts-de-France: we are the 3rd biggest in terms of animated film production in France! A real regional momentum has been created in the heart of this promising sector and we are delighted that events like Cartoon Springboard are coming to Valenciennes and offering young talent from training schools the opportunity to present their projects in front of a panel of experts from the profession. Made as part of Pixar’s SparkShorts program, Wind is set in a world of magical realism where a grandmother and her grandson are trapped deep down an endless chasm, scavenging debris that surrounds them to realize their dream of escaping to a better life. The implication, perhaps, was that it needed to be tamed. In 1649, Oliver Cromwell’s New Model Army invaded Ireland on behalf of the Commonwealth of England, leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Irish people.
