PORVOO PRAYER DIARY 2021 The Porvoo Declaration commits the churches which have signed it ‘to share a common life’ and ‘to pray for and with one another’. An important way of doing this is to pray through the year for the Porvoo churches and their Dioceses. The Prayer Diary is a list of Porvoo Communion Dioceses or churches covering each Sunday of the year, mindful of the many calls upon compilers of intercessions, and the environmental and production costs of printing a more elaborate list. Those using the calendar are invited to choose one day each week on which they will pray for the Porvoo churches. It is hoped that individuals and parishes, cathedrals and religious orders will make use of the Calendar in their own cycle of prayer week by week. In addition to the churches which have approved the Porvoo Declaration, we continue to pray for churches with observer status. Observers attend all the meetings held under the Agreement. The Calendar may be freely copied or emailed for wider circulation. The Prayer Diary is updated once a year. I want to thank everyone involved in helping to make this year another joyful event to celebrate the birth of Jesus with the community. The Bishop of Norwich posted on his twitter account in the lead up to Christmas: Okay, so in the next 3 days, can we not say: "Well it's nice to see you having not seen you in church all year" "Back for your annual visit" "So it was pub closing time then" "There's always space the rest of the year" Just welcome everyone & delight that our churches are full! It would be wonderful if our churches were packed all year round and more people could hear the good news of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ but we certainly welcomed everyone at Christmas with delight and will do whenever anyone walks through our doors. Kidd, hereby state that this thesis has not been submitted in whole or in part to this or any other university for the purposes of a higher degree. The dissertation is an original piece of research. It is based on primary sources and, except where otherwise acknowledged, all conclusions are my own. All primary and secondary sources are acknowledged in the citations which are correct to the best of my knowledge. (A. P. KIDD ) ACKNOWLEDGMENTS One of the outstanding things I discovered when researching the material for this thesis was the unfaihng courtesy and interest I met where ever I went. My thanks are due to the many who helped, included in which are the archivist at Lambeth Palace Library, the librarian at Trinity College, Cambridge, Dr David Thurley at the S.P.C.K. office in London, the librarian at Rhodes House Library at Oxford, Capt. Smith of the Church Army, Blackheath, England, Dr Brenda Haugh of the Church of England Centre in London, Ms Susan Lockridge, librarian of St Francis' Theological College, assistants at the State Archives and at the John Oxley Library, and many others. Because the list is so long I have omitted some, but nevertheless, they are remembered with thanks. The majority of the material used in the thesis, however, comes from the archives of the Diocese of Brisbane. Mrs Patricia Ramsay has my especial thanks for her kind hospitality and great help through many hours spent at the Archives, and Professor Paul Crook, for his unfailing interest and patient supervision.

So why ‘re-imagine’ it? Well, county-level ecumenical bodies were first created over thirty years ago, to stand between the national ‘ecumenical instrument’ Churches Together in England (CTE) and local Churches/Christians Together groups as a place where denominational leaders andDEVELOPING/NURTURING their nominated representatives could meet, discuss and pray about ecumenical workteaching across their - encouragingareas. They have already published A Flexible Framework for Local Unity in Mission detailing various models for local ecumenism, and are now looking at the intermediate field, setting up a working group to examine new initiatives across the country prior to producing recommendations aimed
