Criteria for Remaining in IB classes/Program 1. All students must earn a semester grade of A, B or C to remain in any IB class. Students with a grade of D or F will be dropped from that class either at the term or the semester. 2. To be classified as a full time IB student it is necessary to be enrolled in at least 3 classes that lead to an IB examination. Students with one or two IB classes will be classified as a regular student. IB students will only be allowed to drop classes at the semester due to IB Program requirements and the necessity to have a full academic load. 3. Students who enter the IB Program in the 9th grade will wait until their sophomore year to participate in the Student Government class. By the 10th grade, IB students will have an extra elective period in their schedule and will have successfully adjusted to the demands of the IB Program. 4. It is expected that IB students behave in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of each IB class and all classes at North High School. Behavior problems will not be tolerated in IB or any North High classes. Students who receive disciplinary referrals may be removed from the IB program. 5. All IB students will take all standardized tests as required by state law. This includes the Terra Nova and AIMS tests. Failure to take these tests on the assigned dates may result in removal from the IB Program. 6. All IB students must have excellent attendance. Daily attendance is an important part of IB. Courses move quickly and large amounts of information are dealt with on a daily basis. Class work and discussions, which are at the core of the IB process and lead to passing IB examinations, cannot be made up. There is no accommodation that can be made for a student who is not able to participate in the day-to-day course expectations. 7. Disabilities must be reported by the candidate/legal guardians to the school’s Diploma Program coordinator when the candidate enrolls in the program, with appropriate medical documentation (Disability is any permanent or temporary diagnosed disability that could put a candidate at a disadvantage and prevent him or her from being able to demonstrate skills and knowledge adequately). Temporary disabilities, resulting from illness or accidents, should be reported to the coordinator as soon as possible after they arise, together with supporting medical 1 documentation and other relevant information.
