There are 527 Districts, 36,176 Clubs and 1,180,779 members (as of July 10, 2020) located in more than 200 countries and geographical regions worldwide. The members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians.

Rotary Motto Rotary’s principal motto, “Service Above Self,” is a powerful testament to the enthusiasm with which Rotarians embrace the ideal of service.

OBJECT OF ROTARY

Dear fellow Rotarians:

Ask any Rotarian what led them to Rotary, and you'll usually get different answers. Why? Not only does Rotary mean different things to members in different parts of the world, it also has a unique meaning for each Rotarian.

However, we are all brought together in three important ways. We believe in Rotary values and all share the same Four Way Test. We believe in friendships and love spending time together. And we take great satisfaction in helping others - we are committed to Service.

The District Board has assumed important responsibilities and I thank them for this hard work. They have made a commitment to help grow Rotary, adapt to the digital future and make Rotary more appealing to younger generations.

We have important work in front of us and so many opportunities to open for others and ourselves.

I hope you will continue your journey with us, as we continue to serve our communities so that future generations can thrive as Rotary Opens Opportunities.

Biodata of Rotary International President

Holger Knaack President 2020-21 Rotary Club of Herzogtum Lauenburg-Mölln Germany

Knaack is the CEO of Knaack KG, a real estate company. He was previously a partner and general manager of Knaack Enterprises, a 125-year-old family business.

He is a founding member of the Civic Foundation of the City of Ratzeburg and served as president of the Golf-Club Gut Grambek. Knaack is also the founder and chair of the Karl Adam Foundation.

A Rotary member since 1992, Knaack has served Rotary as treasurer, director, moderator, member and chair of several committees, representative for the Council on Legislation, zone coordinator, training leader, and district governor.

He is an endowment/major gifts adviser and was co-chair of the Host Organization Committee for the 2019 Rotary International Convention in Hamburg.

Knaack and his wife, Susanne, are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation and members of the Bequest Society.

Message from District Governor

My Dear Fellow Rotarians, Greetings to you all. Let me congratulate you for taking the responsibility of the leadership of your club. Rotary club’s leadership is something which is most enjoyable. Along with fun it is very important that we understand our responsibilities and work hard to achieve our goals. We are passing through a very unprecedented time. Something we have never witnessed in our whole life. The suff ering and the threat that many are facing are at times unbearable. But as they say “when the going gets tough the tough get going” we Rotarians are also tough people and we also need to get going to help and assist people who are in difficulty during this time of pandemic. As this pandemic is going to remain here for a long time I think each club should identify the people, the community where our help is required the most and move ahead to assist them. In doing so we also need to make sure that we keep the virus at bay from ourselves and our family. The Rotary year 2020-2021 is going to be a very diff erent year for all of us. Lot of Rotary programmes are going to be on virtual platform. During the challenging times we have to dochallenging things and the most challenging task will be for the clubs to have their regular weekly meetings. I know these meetings cannot be in person but we can always stay in touch with our club friends through virtual meetings. These virtual meetings will certainly help members to be engaged with Rotary. Doing service projects will be another challenge. But this also should not be very difficult as we can plan our projects now and implement them once things become normal which I know will happen very soon. I urge each member of this club to adapt to the new environment during this crisis and take advantage of the new opportunities. Our RI President Rtn. Holgar Knaack has given us the theme “Rotary Opens Opportunities” and we all know it certainly does. So let us all “Trailblazers” get together to open this opportunity with the mindset of “Together We Can.” I wish each and every one of you a very enjoyable Rotary Year. Jai Rotary.

Rajib Pokhrel resident of Kathmandu holds a MBA degree and has a strong business background. He is involved in Industry, Hydro, trading, Financial service and export. He has served as an Executive member, Secretary and Vice President of Finance Company Association Nepal and Executive member of Management Association Nepal. Has travelled extensively to many countries in Asia, Europe, North and South America.

Biodata of RI Director Dr. Bharat Pandya

Dr. Bharat Pandya graduated from prestigious Seth GS Medical College, KEM hospital, Mumbai and is practicing as General & Laparoscopic surgeon since last 32 years. He is a Fellow of International College of Surgeons and has been conferred Fellowship by Association of Surgeons of India. He has served on the Board of Management of Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), a Government of India sponsored Vocational Training Institute for 6 years.

He was Governor of D 3140 in 2006-07. During his year as DG, D 3140 contributed over $ 2 million to The Rotary Foundation and for ﬁ rst time in history of TRF an Indian District - D 3140 - became number 1 in TRF contributions in entire Rotary world in 2006-07.

He has served Rotary as Regional RI Membership Coordinator (RRIMC), Rotary International Training Leader twice in 2009 & 2010, GETS Chair twice, Member of India National PolioPlus Committee (2011-15) & GETS Trainer (8 times). He has served on the RI Membership Committee, RI Sydney Convention Promotion Committee and as Dist. 3140 COL Representative in 2013. He has been RI President’s Representative at District conferences in India, Nepal, Pakistan & Philippines. He is serving as Rotary International Director for 2019-21. Message from District Governor Elect

Dear Fellow Rotarians, As we look forward to a new Rotary year Nabinita and I wouldlike to congratulate our new District Governor Rajiv and First Lady Anupama, the Club Presidents and the District offi cials for a successful 2020–21 tenure. These are not only challenging but extremely diffi cult times as the global pandemic continues to devastate lives and cripple our economies. The scale of devastation it is spreading globally is something we have not witnessed in this century and as Rotary fi ghts this contagion alongside many I am confi dent of District Governor Rajiv’s passion, commitment and abilities to lead our District to greater heights of service to humanity in these critical moments. And precisely, it is what makes Rotary so special and rewarding as Rotarians lend a helping hand in whatever way they can to the Community at large clearly making a diff erence and inspiring many. Take into account the recent and ongoing proceedings where Rotarians have heeded the call to service and many on their own, be it feeding the needy and daily wage workers during the lockdown, distributing critical medical supplies to Hospitals and front line workers or through just fi nancial donations, the list goes on. However, we should comprehend that there are other humanitarian needs which cannot be left in the shadows and so the service to meet these life-threatening situations be it drinking water, education, maternal health or planting trees, etc will have to continue without any interruption and get our utmost attention as always. I have often said this is what Rotarians do best and that is ‘Service above self’ and we stand second to none in striving to help, and make an impact to make this world better. In the daily service that we perform through our networking and fellowship, Rotary opens Opportunities propelling us to get inspired to conduct diversifi ed projects in bringing relief to lives of countless people in need. Needless to mention that several studies have proven time and again that young people can make a diff erence in volunteering and to this our very own Rotaracts can add momentum and value to further spread our noble cause of service to the Community and beyond. I also encourage and welcome women in Rotary who account to a large part of our population to actively participate at all levels. I look forward to actively engaging with each one of you as we walk hand in hand to face these immediate challenges. Together we have always been bold, stood tall by our four way test and done wonders as a team and because you are our greatest strength there is no reason to believe why we cannot do it again. Rtn Santosh Rijal is the District Governor-Elect for the year 2021-2022. His home town is Biratnagar and his classiﬁ cation is Rice Miller. He is the owner of Swastik Jute Mills Pvt. Ltd and Chandra Shiv Rice & Oil Mills Pvt.Ltd. in Biratnagar. Rtn. Santosh Rijal is happily married to Rotarian Nabinita Rijal, Past President of Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown and the couple is blessed with two daughters - Shriya Rijal (PHF) and Swecha Rijal (PHF).

Rtn Rijal holds the bachelor degree of commerce from University of Delhi (India) and Diploma in Business Administration and Marketing from the International Institute of Management & Marketing New Delhi (India). He is an established Industrialist in jute and food industries. He is the Managing Director of Chandra Shiv Rice & Oil Mills Pvt. Ltd. and Chandra Shiv Khadya Udhyog Pvt.Ltd in Biratnagar. He is also the Director of Swastik Jute Mills Pvt. Ltd. in Biratnagar and Indra Complex in Kathmandu.

He holds several key positions in many social organizations such as the Life Member of Nepal Tuberculosis Association, Life Member of Radha Krishna Mandir Teenpaini, Life Member of Family Planning Association, Morang and Member of Confederation of Nepalese Industries. He was the National President of Nepal Jaycees in 1993, Jaycees International Vice President in 1996, Executive Vice President and Chairman of Jaycees International African Conference in Ivory Coast, Africa in 1998.

His involvement in Rotary started in 1981 when he joined Rotary Club of Biratnagar in 1981-1986. He re-joined the Club again in 2004. He served in several Club leadership positions and became the Club President in 2009-2010. Since then, he continued to be engaged in Rotary District 3292 in diﬀ erent Club and District leadership positions among which Assistant Governor, District Trainer, District Award and Recognitions Committee Chair, District International Sub-Committee Chair, District ICM Chair are the key positions he held. He also served as the Governor’s Special Representatives (GSR) for RC Birtamode and RC Kakarvitta. He was awarded the most outstanding Assistant Governor in the year 2012-2013.

He attended several District Program events: all District Conferences from 2008-2009 to 2019-2020, District Leadership Seminars, District Team Training Seminars (DTTS), Grant Management Seminars (GMS), and District Training Assemblies.

Similarly he also attended several Rotary Regional and International events: Rotary International South Asia Conference on Literacy in Kathmandu in 2012 and New Delhi 2013, Rotary International TRF Seminar in Hyderabad (2012-2013 and Chennai (2014-2015), Rotary Leadership Institute in Bangkok (2020-2011), Hyderabad (2011-2012), Singapore (2013-2014), and Chennai (2014-2015), Rotary Institute in Jaipur (2015-2016), Dubai (2016-2017), and Kuala-Lumpur (2017-2018), He attended all Rotary International Conventions from 2011/2012 to 2018/2019.

He is a Major Donor (Level III) and a Paul Harris Society (PHS) member. He was elected as District Governor for the RY 2021-2022 during the District Conference held at Butwal in 2018-2019. Since then, he is continuously getting involved in various District and International Rotary events to prepare himself and his up-coming team to lead the District 3292 successfully in the year 2021-2022 and to raise the bar of the District 3292 to a new height.

He has travelled to more than 110 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America.

Dear Fellow Rotarian Friends

My wife Sarita joins me in extending best wishes to the First Lady Anu and District Governor Rajib Pokhrel, entire district team and all club Presidents for a very successful Rotary Year 2020-2021.

Every year Rotary leadership changes to the new leadership. Under the able leadership of District Governor Rajib Pokhrel, I am sure new team will take our district to a new height and accomplish more.

Rotary has been in Nepal for over sixty years since the opening of the ﬁ rst Rotary Club of Kathmandu in 1959. Our district was formed on 01 July 2008 and since then we have come a long way and committed to the core values of Rotary of serving the community. Each year we as Rotarians have done the best to help and serve the community, be it at a time of national crisis or disasters, and that is what we as Rotarians are known for.

Rotary Year 2019-2020 under the leadership of Rotary International President Mark Daniel Maloney has been a successful year. Though COVID-19 pandemic did slow the pace for sometime, we Rotarians found a new way of connecting by virtual meetings thus proving RI President’s Theme “Rotary Connects the World” a great success. Our sincere appreciation to the Immediate Past First Lady Gita, Immediate Past District Governor Kiran Lal Shrestha and his entire team for a very successful Rotary Year. His guidance and support in future years will deﬁ nitely help to reach a new height.

This year, RI President has aptly chosen the theme “Rotary Opens Opportunities” and we should utilize each available opportunity to serve the people in need. We should work in partnership with local government to ensure that we can support and achieve national priorities. We should tap energetic young Rotaracters to partner with Rotary in achieving its objectives.

Rotary International’s highest external priority is “End Polio” by 2023. We have to ensure complete cure of polio, so we all have to work united to achieve this target. Another priority area for us is to eradicate illiteracy from our country by 2030 and our district has already started working towards achieving this objective. We must work together to achieve 100% literacy in our country, which is also national priority of Government of Nepal.

Biodata of District Governor Nominee

Rtn Jitendra Bahadur Rajbhandary is the District Governor Nominee for the year 2022-2023. His hometown is Lalitpur. Rtn. Rajbhandary is happily married with Sarita and blessed with one daughter Anjana.

Rtn Rajbhandary holds the degree of Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has worked in Royal Nepal Airlines for over sixteen years (in various executive positions as Senior Offi cer, Deputy Director of Finance Department, Chief of Finance Department, Director of Finance & Internal Control, Director of Audit) with working experience in US, UK and France. Since January 1993, he is a full time practitioner as an auditor/ fi nancial consultant providing auditing & assurance services (auditing, accounting, taxation, due diligence and advisory services). He has provided auditing & assurance services to major institutions like Nepal Rastra Bank, major fi nancial institutions, Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza, Hotel de’l Annapurna, Himalaya Airlines, Rato Bungalow School Group of Companies, the British School, major government corporations etc. He has also been associated with the World Bank, IFC, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, NORAD, DANIDA and various other international agencies as fi nancial expert and fi nancial auditor. He is a Past Council Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), life member of Association of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ACAN), Senator of Jaycees International, life member of Disabled New Life Center (DNC), Executive Member & Treasurer of Cultural Heritage Conservation Group for the rebuilding of the Bhaidegah Temple, Executive Member of the Bhimsenthan Rebuilding Committee. His journey in Rotary started as the charter member & charter treasurer of Rotary Club of Kopundol in 2001. He became Club President in the year 2004-2005. Since then, he served in various Rotary leadership positions at both Club and District Levels; Assistant Governor (three years), District Treasurer (two years), District Award and Recognition Committee Chair, District Coordination, Facilitating, & Monitoring Committee Chair, District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair, District Training Team Chair are some of the key positions he held. District 3292 won many awards for the highest contribution to the Rotary Foundation in Rotary Institutes during his tenure as DRFC in 2017, 2018 & 2019. As District Trainer, he had the opportunity of becoming one of the fi rst trainers from RID 3292 to train Assistant Governors from Indian Districts in multi district AGTS, Rtn. He has attended many District and Rotary International Program events. He attended Rotary Institutes in Jaipur, India (2015); Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2017) and Chennai, India (2018). He has attended Regional Foundation Goal Setting Seminar in New Delhi, India (2016); DISHA seminars for incoming district leaders in Mumbai, India (2017) and Hyderabad, India (2018). He has attended district conference in Kolkata, India and district conferences in Nepal. He has attended RI Convention in Seoul, South Korea in 2016, Toronto, Canada in 2018, Hamburg in June 2019 and 2020 Rotary Virtual Convention. In RI Convention in Hamburg, Germany, he was the moderator of one breakaway session “Cultivating Positivity to be an Inspirational Rotarian”.

He is a Major Donor (Level I) and a Paul Harris Society (PHS) member. He was elected as District Governor for the RY 2022-2023 during the District Conference held at Pokhra in 2019-2020. Since then, he is continuously getting involved in various District and International Rotary events to prepare himself and his up-coming team to lead the District 3292 successfully in the year 2022-2023 and to take the District 3292 to a new height during his tenure

Dear fellow Rotarians

It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to present District Directory (2020-2021) on behalf of the District Governor Rajiv Pokhrel and District Publication Committee (2020-2021). I would like to express my deep appreciation to DG Rajiv Pokhrel for entrusting me with this responsibility to produce District Directory for the Rotary Year 2020-2021.

As you are all aware, producing District Directory demands a tireless and incessant eﬀ ort in communicating, collecting, compiling, and proofreading the accuracy of information before the information is printed in the document. It is a gigantic ask which is not possible to accomplish without the support and cooperation from all of you fellow Rotarians and team members.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all Club Presidents and Club leaders who made available to us all detail information about their 2020-2021 team and other Club details that has made possible for us to produce District Directory (2020-21) in time for distribution. For your information as advised by DG Rajiv Pokhrel and also as suggested by many of you, this year we have taken an initiative to produce electronic Directory to enable Rotarians to have easy access to information at your fi ngertips. In addition to important District information, we have also tried our best to update and include information in terms of TRF contribution made by each member (shown as level PHF contribution), name of Charter President of Clubs including name of Governor’s Special Representative and sponsoring Clubs, affi xing the year of presidentship of all Past Presidents of Clubs, etc. Furthermore, we have tried this year also to harmonize the information of Club member’s list submitted by the Clubs with the registered name of list of members in the RI Database. I believe District Directory will be useful as reference document for all. Despite our utmost eff orts, care and attention, the elements of errors, unintended emissions and inaccuracies cannot be ruled out. Rotary Foundation Grants The new grant model of The Rotary Foundation after being pilot tested in 100 countries across the world has been now roll out to all countries from 1st July 2013. New Rotary Foundation model now oﬀ ers 2 Grant types: District and Global Grants.

District Grants District grants are block grants made to Districts to support smaller projects, such as scholarships, projects, and travel that align with the mission of The Rotary Foundation both locally and internationally.

Districts may use up to 50 percent of their available District Designated Fund for these grants in a given Rotary year and administer the grant without the Foundation’s involvement. Club submits their requests to the District, which administers and distributes the funds. Each District sets its own procedures and policies for how and when Clubs submit requests, as well as any additional requirement.

Global Grants Global grants support larger projects such as scholarships, projects, vocational training teams, and some travel within the six areas of focus that are sustainable, measurable, and host community-driven. These grants will be administered by the Foundation which accepts and reviews applications as they arrive for the funding in a manner similar to the current system. All Global Grants have a minimum budget of US$30,000.

Rotary Foundation Global Grants and The Areas of Focus

All Rotary Clubs and Districts are eligible to apply for Global grants from The Rotary Foundation to support sustainable activities with high-impact outcomes in one or more of the six areas of focus.

Rotary has selected these six areas to focus its eﬀ orts as these areas reﬂ ect some of the most critical and widespread humanitarian needs:

Rotary Strategic Plan Strategic planning helps District and Clubs develop a long range vision and establish goals. In 2001-02, Rotary International began developing Strategic Plan to guide the organization. The Plan has been reviewed and updated periodically since then. In 2009, the RI Board conducted extensive review of the RI Strategic Plan. The revised Strategic Plan, eﬀ ective from 1st July 2010, uniﬁ es the strategic direction of RI and The Rotary Foundation.

Rotary’s Strategic Priorities and Goals: Rotary’s Strategic Plan provides the framework for our future, ensuring that we continue to be known as a respected, dynamic organization that advances communities worldwide.

Rotary’s New Vision Statement: Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

As we stand on the cusp of eliminating polio, we ﬁ nd ourselves poised for our next challenge. The time is right to move toward realizing a new vision that brings more people together, increases our impact, and creates lasting change around the world.

To achieve the vision of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International has set four priorities supported by 14 objectives that will direct our work over the next ﬁ ve years.

AVENUES OF SERVICE Based on the Object of Rotary, the Five Avenues of Service are Rotary’s philosophical cornerstone and the foundation on which the activities of a Club are based: i. Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the eﬀ ective functioning of the Club. ii. Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. iii. Community Service covers the projects and activities the Club undertakes to improve life in its community. iv. International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace. v. Youth Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, service projects, and exchange programs.

Rotary International Council of Legislation (CoL) on April 28, 2010 has recognized the youths in Rotary by approving enactment to add “New Generations” as the Fifth Avenue of Service. The CoL of 2013 had made an amendement to change the name from “New Generation” to “Youth Service”.

Special Rotary Month Observances In the Annual Rotary Calendar several months are designated to emphasize major programs of Rotary International. RI Board of Directors in a meeting held in Evaston, Illinois, USA on October 27-30, 2014 have modiﬁ ed Rotary’s Calendar of Special observance to designate speciﬁ c months highlighting six Areas of Focus of Rotary as follows:

1. JULY remains unspecifi ed. Start of new Rotary Offi cer’s Year of Service. Recommended to designate this months as “Rotary’s Annual Theme” month. 2. AUGUST is Membership and Extension Month 3. SEPTEMBER is for Area Focus: Basic Education and Literacy Month 4. OCTOBER is for Area Focus: Economic and Community Development Month 5. NOVEMBER Rotary Foundation Month. Clubs and Districts call attention to the programs of The Rotary Foundation and frequently cultivate additional fi nancial support for the Foundation by promoting contributions for Paul Harris Fellows, Sustaining Members etc. 6.
