We also discovered that 24-hour news, courtesy of CNN, could lead to some pretty ridiculous programming. Another noteworthy happening from that rich period in our country’s popular culture was the fact that Fran Cosmo, otherwise known as the former lead singer of Boston, got his first big music business break. In 1980, Cosmo (a.k.a. Francis Cosmo Migliaccio) was approached by Barry Gou- dreau, guitarist for Boston, about working on Goudreau’s debut solo album. Cosmo jumped at the chance to work with Goudreau, and three years later their collaboration led to the forma- tion of a new act, Orion the Hunter. The self-titled debut Cosmo and Goudreau released shortly thereafter might not have made Orion the Hunter a household name, but it did give radio listeners the hit single “So You Ran” and scored the group a tour of the U.S. with Aerosmith for their Back in the Saddle tour. Cosmo’s collaboration with Goudreau also got his foot in the door with Boston, at the time an unstoppable force in the world of classic rock, and seven years later Cosmo was invited to join Boston as lead singer, Brad Delp hav- FRAN COSMO ing left the band w/PARADISE to pursue other projects.

  • Greatest Hits on Earth Returning to the Hanover Theatre
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Greatest Hits on Earth Returning to The Hanover Theatre Worcester, Mass. (May 17, 2016) The former members and musicians who played with Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, The Storm and Rare Earth are coming to Worcester for one night this fall. Symply Fargone Productions and Greatest Hits on Earth – Live® present Rock & Pop Masters®, coming to The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts on Saturday, September 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now to members. Tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday, May 24. In his younger days, Randall Hall attended the infamous Monkees tour where the legendary Jimi Hendrix was the opening act. While most attendees were busy booing Hendrix off stage, the former Monkees fan was entranced and decided heavy riffing was the way to go. Adding in the Southern flavor of the Allman Brothers, Randall formed his first band, Running Easy, in 1971. In 1987, Randall was asked to take the place of Allen Collins in Lynyrd Skynyrd after Collins’ paralyzing car accident. He remained a member of the band until 1994. Fran Cosmo exploded onto the rock scene when he took over for Brad Delp as the lead singer of Boston in 1992. Fran was featured as the lead vocalist on the “Walk On” album, which sold over one million copies worldwide. Prior to his success as the lead singer of Boston, he was the lead singer and song co-writer for both “Orion the Hunter” and Barry Goundreau albums. Fran Cosmo is known for his high-energy and outstanding vocal range on Boston songs that very few, if any, can perform.

DATE: March 15, 2007 GAYLE FEE AND LAURA RAPOSA WITH ERIN HAYES PUBLICATION: Boston Herald (MA) EDITION: ALL SECTION: News Page: 16 Brad Delp lit two charcoal grills in the bathroom adjacent to his master bedroom and committed suicide via asphyxiation last week, according to New Hampshire police who yesterday confirmed that the lead singer of the band Boston took his own life. "He was a man who gave all he had to give to everyone around him, whether family, friends, fans or strangers," the singer's family said in a statement. "He gave as long as he could, as best he could, and he was very tired. We take comfort in knowing that he is now, at last, at peace." Delp, 55, a Danvers native, left two sealed suicide notes taped to a door and letters to his family and his fiancee, Pamela Sullivan. But Atkinson, N.H., Police Lt. William Baldwin said the cops were not told why he took his life. Toxicology tests by the state medical examiner's office showed that Delp died of carbon monoxide poisoning. "It's very sad for all of us who loved this guy," said ex-Extreme drummer Paul Geary, a close friend of Delp and his family.
