EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSING NOTICE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
Dear Parents/Guardians,
In extremely bad weather, we are always faced with the possibility of not opening school in the morning or having to close school during the day. The problem of getting each student home safely could be a serious one, unless plans for each child are worked out in advance.
If a storm occurs during the night or early morning and the decision to close Lakeland School is made, you will receive a Skylert message sent via telephone from our building principal. Please listen to the message before calling the school. You can also refer to the following radio and television stations for school closure announcements:

The decision to close Lakeland School during the day will be made by school administrators after discussion with Walworth County DPW, Sheriff's Department, and bus companies. If the decision is made to close school early, you will, again, receive a Skylert message sent via telephone indicating your child will arrive home early. Please listen to the message before calling school. With students arriving home at an unusual time of the day, the possibility exists that some of them may not find anyone home or perhaps be unable to get into the house. Such a situation can be extremely frightening, especially to younger children.
To prevent any serious incident from arising, we feel that if the child is able to understand, he/she should be instructed by his her parents/guardians on what to do in case they arrive home and find no one there. We suggest parents/guardians make arrangements with at least two of their neighbors to whose home the child may go if necessary. IMPORTANT: The neighbor/place your child should be taken must be on the same bus route they would normally travel on.

En un clima extremadamente malo, siempre nos enfrentamos a la posibilidad de no abrir la escuela por la mañana o tener que cerrar la escuela durante el día. El problema de llevar a cada estudiante a casa de manera segura podría ser serio, a menos que los planes para cada niño se elaboren con anticipación.
Si ocurre una tormenta durante la noche o temprano en la mañana y se toma la decisión de cerrar la escuela Lakeland, recibirá un mensaje de Skylert enviado por teléfono por nuestro director de la escuela. La decisión de cerrar la escuela Lakeland durante el día la tomarán los administradores escolares después de discutirlo con el Departamento de Policía de Walworth County, el Departamento del Sheriff y las compañías de autobuses. IMPORTANTE: El vecino / lugar al que se debe llevar a su hijo debe estar en la misma ruta de autobús por la que normalmente viajaría.
