What we Believe

Articles of Faith

Liberty Bible College & Seminary (LBCS) is a Bible-believing institution which accepts the following declarations as being taught in Scripture. Thus, they are accepted by us as truth and authoritatively reliable.

• The inspiration and authority of Scripture • One God, subsisting in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit • The creation of the human race in the image of God • The fall of man and resultant human depravity • The deity of Christ, His incarnation, atoning death, and bodily resurrection • Salvation by the grace of God alone through faith in Christ alone • One holy Christian church, the Body of Christ • The second coming of Jesus Christ and the consummation of all things

Core Values

We affirm the authority of the Bible and believe in the integration of faith, learn- ing, and ministry. We endorse the practice of distance education as a significant contributor to the educational needs of the religious and global community.

Wise men lay up knowledge ProverbS 10:14

LBCS • 5

Mission Statement (Purpose)

• To provide a forum of true Christian education, premised upon our founda- tion, the Word of God.

• To honor the Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to the leading and directing of the Holy Spirit.

We recognize that wisdom originates with God, and is not necessarily synony- mous with knowledge. God's wisdom, based on the original Hebrew language of the Old Testament, is discernment coupled with understanding, which culminates in intelligence, as read in Proverbs 9:10. Proverbs 9:9 clarifies 9:10 by stating: "Give instruction to a wise man and he will yet be wiser. Teach a just man and he will increase in learning."

Learning is a life-long process, which is supported and strengthened by study (2 Timothy 2:15). Accordingly, we provide a forum for our students to obtain a qual- ity education in Biblical wisdom by providing practical courses.

In the admonition given by the Apostle Paul to his student, Timothy, there is an urgency to continue in that which he had learned (2 Timothy 3:14). This is the heart of the LBCS curriculum.

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom Psalm 51:6

6 • LBCS About Our President

Dr. Robert J. Long, B.Min., M.B.S., D.B.S., S.Litt.D. Executive Director/Founder

r. Long was born in Kentucky and lived there until he entered the U.S. Army in 1953. After leaving the Army in 1956, he lived a rough life for the next few Dyears. Eventually, he was saved, baptized, and (in 1979) felt God's call on his life to preach. He answered that call, and after Bible school he began preaching.

Dr. Long founded the radio broadcast "Salvation Unlimited" in 1985. He preached every Sunday on the radio until 2001. At the same time, he was an evangelist, preaching in churches, tents, and rented halls. Part of the time while he was doing evangelistic work, he pastored a church, whose services were broadcast over the radio. He saw many souls saved and decisions made for Christ.

In 1999, Dr. Long was burdened to start a movement of independent preachers and churches who loved the Lord more than the man-made rules he found in many churches. Therefore, he founded Independent Baptist Alliance, Inc. (IBA)... God blessed his efforts. Today, IBA has ministries and churches throughout America.

Dr. Long received his Bible diploma from Liberty Home Bible Institute, and degrees from Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Liberty Seminary, and Jacksonville Theological Seminary.

Brother Long feels strongly that God has called him to start this school. God has greatly blessed us with the instructors whom He has provided. Each one is a gift- ed teacher; and, all of them love God.

Our prayer at LBCS is that the students will enjoy their studies and use the knowl- edge they learn here to win lost souls for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6

LBCS • 7 A Message from our President

r. Long was saved at the age of forty. After Bible school, he started preaching on the radio and in other venues. For the next twenty years, he served as an Devangelist, pastor, and radio preacher, seeing many souls saved. He is delighted to have you consider LBCS as your place of study. There are many fine Christian institutions from which you could achieve your goals; and, we dare not boast that our ministry of education is better than all the others. But, we do believe that we are on par with them and can assure you that if you choose our school, you will be the recipient of a Christ-centered, Bible-oriented program of studies.

What is distinct about LBCS? Our format and curriculum is distance learning. You are not required to leave your home or job and spend time at a traditional col- lege or seminary campus. Furthermore, there is no need for you to spend your life savings to earn a degree.

Ours is a place where, if you do not wish to work toward a degree, you may enroll in our Diploma of Biblical Studies Program. The diploma and degree programs are now available for you as you set up your own pursuit of studies, and may be completed at your own pace and place. We have a no-interest time payment plan, including incentives.

Liberty Bible College & Seminary is not concerned with worldly praise or acco- lades, but with purveying knowledge to our students. We recognize that many ministries are seeking the believer who has attained a certain level of Christian education exemplified in the receiving of a degree. Consequently, we seek to pro- vide a learning experience, which leads to spiritual growth and which honors God at the same time.

May God bless you in your endeavors and lead you by the ministry of the Holy Spirit as you magnify the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all. Proverbs 22:2

The completion of courses at LBCS leads to KNOWING GOD BETTER, EXPERIENCING GOD DEEPER, and LOVING GOD MORE.

LBCS • 13 Why Choose LBCS? That is an excellent question. You, the student, are the only one who may intelli- gently and, more importantly, spiritually provide the answer to that question. We are certain that you will agree. It is the Lord Who will lead you to study at our school (Psalm 37:23). That belief being our premise, the following serves only to assist you as you make your decision under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, ". . . when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you . . ." (John 16:13).

• We offer practical courses. • Our school and complete programs are Bible-based and oriented. • Our curriculum is Christ-centered. • Our faculty and staff are all born-again Christians. • Our fees and tuition costs are very inexpensive (by comparison). • We have our own online bookstore with very reasonable rates. • Donations and gifts are tax deductible through our federal exempt status. • Students may receive credit for life experience (undergraduate). • Students may study at their own paces. • We offer low, no-interest monthly payments. • We use textbooks, rather than tapes. • Students keep the textbooks for their personal libraries.

Committed to Excellence!

14 • LBCS Admission Policy Liberty Bible College & Seminary is a non-discriminatory institution of learning. Every applicant is provided with serious consideration, regardless of sex, age, race, national or ethnic origin.

Each applicant is evaluated for placement on the basis of a complete academic record, life service, and other personal data. In consideration of academic record, only those courses receiving a passing grade will be accepted for credit.

When a student transfers credits from another institution, they must send those records to us as an officially-sealed transcript. However, they may begin study with us on the basis that their transcripts will be forthcoming, prior to the con- summation of that first course.

Grading Grading is determined by the following letter grade, premised upon the numeri- cal grade achieved:

Grade Determination Quality Points

A Excellent 4.0 B Good 3.0 C Average 2.0 D Poor 1.0 F Failed 0 I Incomplete 0

The letter grade is determined on the basis of a test's numerical grade:

(A) 90-100 (B) 80-89 (C) 70-79 (D) 60-69 (F) Below 60

Appealing a grade is afforded to a student who believes an error (unintention- al) has been committed. The process must begin within a thirty-day period from the date the grade in question was received. After the thirty-day period, the grade is considered final with no recourse. The committee will render its decision as expeditiously as possible.

20 • LBCS Life Experience Credit for Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees

We at LBCS are on the ground floor of a widespread trend in American education, which is being utilized in many outstanding campuses in both secular and Christian schools. Learning institutions are now offering their students credit for their life's experiences. We appreciate that many of our students have invested much of their lives serving the Lord, and we want to reward them for their efforts. Accordingly, upon request, students may be granted up to forty percent of credit hours toward their degrees. We evaluate each request for credit hours upon receipt of application.

Adding or Dropping Courses

A student may add or drop a course, provided the request is sent to us first. Any added course must fit the student's program.

Course Repeating Policy

Should a student be concerned about receiving too low a grade, he/she may request an opportunity to repeat the course at a minimal fee. The second grade replaces the first for the purposes of calculating the cumulative grade point aver- age (GPA) on the student's record. No student will be allowed to graduate with an F or incomplete in a required course. Any undergraduate student accumulating three Fs or incompletes will be placed in a remedial-assistance program.

Any student who is not eligible for a refund and wishes to withdraw from a pro- gram will forfeit all monies paid to LBCS.

The Ten Commandments Exodus 20:1-17 1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. FIRST COMMANDMENT

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. SECOND COMMANDMENT 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. THIRD COMMANDMENT 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. FOURTH COMMANDMENT 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. FIFTH COMMANDMENT 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. SIXTH COMMANDMENT 13 Thou shalt not kill. SEVENTH COMMANDMENT 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. EIGHTH COMMANDMENT 15 Thou shalt not steal. NINTH COMMANDMENT 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. TENTH COMMANDMENT 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
