Thus, they are accepted by us as truth and authoritatively reliable. • The inspiration and authority of Scripture • One God, subsisting in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit • The creation of the human race in the image of God • The fall of man and resultant human depravity • The deity of Christ, His incarnation, atoning death, and bodily resurrection • Salvation by the grace of God alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone • One holy Christian church, the Body of Christ • The second coming of Jesus Christ and the consummation of all things Core Values We affirm the authority of the Bible and believe in the integration of faith, learn- ing, and ministry. Wise men lay up knowledge ProverbS 10:14 LBCS • 5 Mission Statement (Purpose) • To provide a forum of true Christian education, premised upon our founda- tion, the Word of God. • To honor the Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to the leading and directing of the Holy Spirit. We recognize that wisdom originates with God, and is not necessarily synony- mous with knowledge. God's wisdom, based on the original Hebrew language of the Old Testament, is discernment coupled with understanding, which culminates in intelligence, as read in Proverbs 9:10. Proverbs 9:9 clarifies 9:10 by stating: "Give instruction to a wise man and he will yet be wiser. Teach a just man and he will increase in learning." Learning is a life-long process, which is supported and strengthened by study (2 Timothy 2:15). Accordingly, we provide a forum for our students to obtain a qual- ity education in Biblical wisdom by providing practical courses. In the admonition given by the Apostle Paul to his student, Timothy, there is an urgency to continue in that which he had learned (2 Timothy 3:14). This is the heart of the LBCS curriculum. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom Psalm 51:6 6 • LBCS About Our President Dr. Robert J. Long, B.Min., M.B.S., D.B.S., S.Litt.D. Executive Director/Founder r. Long was born in Kentucky and lived there until he entered the U.S. Army in 1953. After leaving the Army in 1956, he lived a rough life for the next few Dyears. Eventually, he was saved, baptized, and (in 1979) felt God's call on his life to preach. He answered that call, and after Bible school he began preaching. Dr. Long founded the radio broadcast "Salvation Unlimited" in 1985. He preached every Sunday on the radio until 2001. At the same time, he was an evangelist, preaching in churches, tents, and rented halls. Part of the time while he was doing evangelistic work, he pastored a church, whose services were broadcast over the radio. He saw many souls saved and decisions made for Christ. In 1999, Dr. Long was burdened to start a movement of independent preachers and churches who loved the Lord more than the man-made rules he found in many churches. Therefore, he founded Independent Baptist Alliance, Inc. (IBA)... God blessed his efforts. Today, IBA has ministries and churches throughout America. Dr. Long received his Bible diploma from Liberty Home Bible Institute, and degrees from Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Liberty Seminary, and Jacksonville Theological Seminary. Brother Long feels strongly that God has called him to start this school. God has greatly blessed us with the instructors whom He has provided. Each one is a gift- ed teacher; and, all of them love God. Our prayer at LBCS is that the students will enjoy their studies and use the knowl- edge they learn here to win lost souls for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 LBCS • 7 A Message from our President r. Long was saved at the age of forty. After Bible school, he started preaching on the radio and in other venues. For the next twenty years, he served as an Devangelist, pastor, and radio preacher, seeing many souls saved. He is delighted to have you consider LBCS as your place of study. There are many fine Christian institutions from which you could achieve your goals; and, we dare not boast that our ministry of education is better than all the others. But, we do believe that we are on par with them and can assure you that if you choose our school, you will be the recipient of a Christ-centered, Bible-oriented program of studies. What is distinct about LBCS? Our format and curriculum is distance learning. You are not required to leave your home or job and spend time at a traditional col- lege or seminary campus. Furthermore, there is no need for you to spend your life savings to earn a degree. Ours is a place where, if you do not wish to work toward a degree, you may enroll in our Diploma of Biblical Studies Program. The diploma and degree programs are now available for you as you set up your own pursuit of studies, and may be completed at your own pace and place. We have a no-interest time payment plan, including incentives. Liberty Bible College & Seminary is not concerned with worldly praise or acco- lades, but with purveying knowledge to our students. We recognize that many ministries are seeking the believer who has attained a certain level of Christian education exemplified in the receiving of a degree. Consequently, we seek to pro- vide a learning experience, which leads to spiritual growth and which honors God at the same time.
