Survey Consult Ltd UGX 1.08 Bn Town Roads Upgrading Proposal: The Contractor re- submitted the comprehensive proposal to the Engineer and a draft Consultant’s evaluation and recommendation on the proposal was submitted to UNRA on 6th December, 2020 for review and onward submission to the Bank. Challenges  Contractor is suffering delays due to cash flow challenges, which are self-generated.

 Breakdown of bitumen distributor in the reporting month affected the progress of 7 surface dressing works.

PROJECT STATUS AS OF JANUARY 2021

Kikorongo-Bwera- (38km)

Feasibility study and Detailed Engineering Design of 624.8 Km of roads by external consultants  Consultant has submitted the Revised Draft Feasibility Study and Preliminary Design Report following UNRA's review.

Lot 1: Kumi- Ngora-Serere-Kagwara, (95Km),  Design options report was approved.  ESIA scoping report submitted and forwarded to NEMA for approval.

 Design study extended to 4 May 2021.

Lot 2: Mayuge- Mbaale- Nakivumbi-Bugiri-Namayingo-Lugaala  Revised design options report submitted. (95Km),  The consultant submitted the final feasibility and preliminary design report.

 Contract was signed on 05 March 2020.

 Design services commenced on 17 June 2020.

 Final inception report and design base statement submitted on 06 August 2020.

Lot 3: Kyenjojo () - Nyarukoma – Kigarale -  Five monthly progress meetings have been held with the consultant. Rwamwanja–Kiruhura (97Km)  Route options report submitted;

 Draft ESIA scoping report submitted;

 Materials investigations ongoing.

 Final detailed design expected to be completed by 17 June 2021.

Lot 4: Muhanga- Kisiizi- Rwashamaire (78.8Km)  The geotechnical investigations have been completed except for Minera Bridge.

PROJECT STATUS AS OF JANUARY 2021  Detailed topographic surveys were completed.

 The revised design options report was submitted, reviewed and approved.

 The consultant has submitted the draft feasibility and preliminary design and it is under review.

 All engineering surveys, data collection and analysis for detailed design have been completed. Kazo-Buremba- Kabagole- Kyeggegwa Road (82km)  The consultant is expected to submit draft final detailed design reports by February 2021.

 Consultant is currently undertaking RAP surveys.

 The contract was signed on 18 November 2020.

Muko- and Muko-Kamuganguzi (104km)  The consultant is expected to submit the inception report and design base statement by 31 January 2020.

 Consultant has addressed design comments from JICA Appraisal Team regarding Lot 2 stage 1 and Stage 2.

Kampala Flyover Upgrading and Construction Project Phase 2  The consultant has submitted four batches of draft drawings for bridges to the independent design checker. Draft final report was submitted to UNRA.

 UNRA to initiate procurement of Civil works for lot 2 beginning of January 2021.

PROJECT STATUS AS OF JANUARY 2021  A meeting with UNRA and JICA regarding the loan appraisal process for the additional Loan balance was held in December 2020

 Discussion with JICA to securing additional loan to cover the entire scope of works for the whole the project has been done by the Consultant.

 The Consultant is also continuously supporting JICA in preparation and providing information regarding additional traffic demand analysis, cost estimates, economic analysis, environmental impacts, and project indicators for justifying additional loan to cover the entire scope of works for Lot2 Stages1&2.
