  • Brunswick Corporation Sets New Sales, Units and Share Records at the 2019 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show
November 4, 2019 Brunswick Corporation sets new sales, units and share records at the 2019 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show Mettawa, IL, Nov. 04, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) announced today that its Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and Mercury Marine brands have set multiple records during the 2019 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. Sea Ray, which launched an all-new 320 Sundancer Coupe at Ft. Lauderdale, saw an 80 percent increase in show sales from a year ago, demonstrating the success of its reinvention strategy. Boston Whaler continues to benefit from significant year-over-year sales growth in September and October, leading to a very successful Ft. Lauderdale boat show which saw the launch of the flagship 405 Conquest and the 325 Conquest and increased show sales on boats 33’ and above. Brunswick Corporation sets multiple records at the 2019 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show For the third consecutive year, Mercury Marine substantially grew unit share at the show and had more engines on display than any other manufacturer. In addition, for the first time, more than half of the engines in the on-water portion of the show at the Bahia Mar were Mercurys. Several OEM’s showcased new partnerships with Mercury, while others increased the percentage of Mercury outboards and sterndrives on their boats. “Ft. Lauderdale is one of the largest and most important boat shows in the world and an opportunity for Brunswick to showcase new products and new technologies from our premium boat brands and Mercury Marine,” said Dave Foulkes, Brunswick Corporation Chief Executive Officer.

  • (Page 1 of 2) J.D. Power and Associates Reports: Boat
J.D. Power and Associates Reports: Boat Manufacturers Hone in on Improving Customer Satisfaction and Quality While Facing Challenging Market Conditions Bass Cat, Bennington, Cobalt, Grady-White, Nautique, Regal and Sea Ray Each Rank Highest in New-Boat Owner Satisfaction in Their Respective Segments MIAMI: 12 February 2009 —Despite challenging economic conditions, overall customer satisfaction and quality across the new-boat industry has increased considerably since 2008, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Boat Competitive Information StudySM released today at the Miami International Boat Show. Now in its eighth year, the study examines the sales, service and product experience of new-boat owners. Owner satisfaction with new boats is measured in seven segments: fiberglass bass boats; coastal fishing (17 to 30 feet); express cruisers (24 to 33 feet); small runabouts (16 to 19 feet); large runabouts (20 to 29 feet); pontoons; and ski/wakeboards. Overall customer satisfaction index scores are based on performance in eight factors: cabin; engine; ride and handling; helm and instrument panel; design and styling; sound system; water sports; and fishing.1 The study finds that customer satisfaction across the boating industry has increased considerably—up from an index score of 813 on a 1,000-point scale in 2008 to 830 in 2009. While all boating segments improve in 2009, the express cruiser segment (up 38 points) and large runabout segment (up 25 points) primarily drive the overall satisfaction increase. In addition, the average number of problems new-boat owners experience has declined by 33 problems per 100 (PP100) boats in 2009. “The industry-wide drop in problems experienced is again driven by considerable improvements in both the express cruiser and large runabout segments, which, combined, drive a decline of more than 100 PP100 from the 2008 study,” said Todd Markusic, senior director of the powersports practice at J.D.

  • Boston Whaler Celebrates 50Th Anniversary; Remains the Unsinkable Legend
July 23, 2007 Boston Whaler Celebrates 50th Anniversary; Remains the Unsinkable Legend EDGEWATER, Fla., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boston Whaler, perhaps the most recognizable name in recreational and commercial boating, will soon celebrate 50 years of success. Known for its rugged durability, performance, smooth ride and "unsinkability," Boston Whaler has been the talk of boating enthusiasts and the boating industry for decades. The chatter began in 1958 when Richard T. Fisher -- a Harvard-educated engineer by trade and a boater by choice -- in partnership with naval designer C. Raymond Hunt, first introduced the Boston Whaler at the New York Boat Show. No one had seen a boat quite like it before. Two features set this boat apart from the others. -- It had an odd-shaped body that resembled a seagull in flight rather than the traditional "V" shape found on most pleasure craft of that day. -- Its body was constructed using the revolutionary Unibond(TM) construction process by which protective fiberglass skin and foam fuse to create a extremely durable and buoyant vessel. The talk continued in 1961 when Boston Whaler was thrust into the international limelight. In its May 19, 1961, issue, Life magazine featured photographs of Fisher sitting in a Boston Whaler as it was being sawed in half from below with a buck saw. Subsequent photographs depicted Fisher casually driving away in only half a boat. Thus, the "Unsinkable Legend" was born. Following this marketing stunt, Boston Whaler quickly earned a reputation for being a tough work boat in the challenging waters of coastal New England. Since then, the boats have attracted an intensely loyal group of owners.
