September 2018 PRIZMnews.com | 15 Here are the stars and stones coming to Ohio during the coming arts season.

By Bob Vitale From community theater stages to Ouicken Loans Arena, LGBTO stories and artists will be in the spotlight repeatedly over the coming months.

We've not done the math—not our strong suit—but the lineups at Ohio arts venues for the new season sure make us more hopeful than that annual GLAAD report about the lack of LGBTO characters on TV and in the movies.

And it's not just productions of "Rent" we're talking about, although you can catch the third year of its 20th anniversary tour soon in Cincinnati and Columbus. There are many more, often new LGBTO voices, reflecting so many more of our stories, experiences and identities.

Here are the highlights. You can find even more at PrizmNews.com, where we maintain Ohio's most comprehensive calendar of LGBTQ-themed events.

LIVING FOR ART FOR LIFE By Bridget Sarpong The Columbus Museum of Art will host this year's Art for Life gala on Saturday, Sept. 15. Since 1989, the biennial event has raised about $3 million for HIV/AIDS medical care, prevention, education, testing and advocacy services. The fundraiser includes live and silent auctions of works by artists from Ohio and around the world. In 2016, Art for Life raised more than $600,000 for Equitas Health. This year's auctions will feature two silkscreen prints by Keith Haring that are valued at $24,000 each.

Here's a sampling of the art featured at this year's Art for Life.

By Erin McCalla

For Edwaard Liang, it's all about balance—and not just the physical kind needed to forge a dance career that has included featured roles with the Ballet and a stint in the Broadway production of "Fosse."

As artistic director of Columbus' BalletMet, Liang balances duties such as choreographing ballets, planning the performance season, and budgeting and managing dancers and staff. As a much-in-demand choreographer, he balances a schedule that includes travel around the country and world.
