Looking for Podcast Suggestions? We’Ve Got You Covered
Looking for podcast suggestions? We’ve got you covered. We asked Loomis faculty members to share their podcast playlists with us, and they offered a variety of suggestions as wide-ranging as their areas of personal interest and professional expertise. Here’s a collection of 85 of these free, downloadable audio shows for you to try, listed alphabetically with their “recommenders” listed below each entry: 30 for 30 You may be familiar with ESPN’s 30 for 30 series of award-winning sports documentaries on television. The podcasts of the same name are audio documentaries on similarly compelling subjects. Recent podcasts have looked at the man behind the Bikram Yoga fitness craze, racial activism by professional athletes, the origins of the hugely profitable Ultimate Fighting Championship, and the lasting legacy of the John Madden Football video game. Recommended by Elliott: “I love how it involves the culture of sports. You get an inner look on a sports story or event that you never really knew about. Brings real life and sports together in a fantastic way.” 99% Invisible From the podcast website: “Ever wonder how inflatable men came to be regular fixtures at used car lots? Curious about the origin of the fortune cookie? Want to know why Sigmund Freud opted for a couch over an armchair? 99% Invisible is about all the thought that goes into the things we don’t think about — the unnoticed architecture and design that shape our world.” Recommended by Scott ABCA Calls from the Clubhouse Interviews with coaches in the American Baseball Coaches Association Recommended by Donnie, who is head coach of varsity baseball and says the podcast covers “all aspects of baseball, culture, techniques, practices, strategy, etc. -

MOBILE SMART FUNDAMENTALS MMA MEMBERS EDITION DECEMBER 2013 messaging . advertising . apps . mcommerce www.mmaglobal.com NEW YORK • LONDON • SINGAPORE • SÃO PAULO MOBILE MARKETING ASSOCIATION DECEMBER 2013 REPORT A Year of Transformation The new-year invariably kicks off with a slew of predictions, many of which are being usefully defined and shared by our global and regional board members, and many of which are likely to come to fruition or certainly build in momentum. The one area that we feel is certain to gain momentum and have a huge impact on how the mobile industry develops in 2014 is the number of brands that we will see moving from the sidelines and fully into the game. The impact of this will be seen both in the gains in mobile spend as brands move away from the 1% average that we’ve been seeing and start moving towards 10-15% mobile spend with increased ROIs as a result. We will also start to see how mobile is driving both innovation in marketing and transformation of business. As always, the MMA will be providing support and guidance for the entire industry, shining a light on inspiration, capability development, measurement and advocacy allowing all constituents to continue building their businesses, with mobile at its core. We look forward to supporting you and the industry. I wish you much success in 2014. 00:00:00 Music Music Gentle, trilling music with a steady drumbeat plays under the dialogue. 00:00:02 Promo Promo Speaker: Bullseye with Jesse Thorn is a production of MaximumFun.org and is distributed by NPR. 00:00:12 Jesse Thorn Host I’m Jesse Thorn. It’s Bullseye. 00:00:15 Music Music “Huddle Formation” from the album Thunder, Lightning, Strike by The Go! Team. A fast, upbeat, peppy song. Music plays as Jesse speaks, then fades out. 00:00:22 Jesse Host Joe Pera Talks With You is a small, quiet show. In fact, it might be the smallest, quietest show on television. It is also, frankly, I think my favorite show on television. The conceit is pretty straightforward. It basically couldn’t be any more plain. Joe Pera, who’s the host, plays a version of himself. In real life, he’s a stand-up comedian. In the show, he teaches middle school choir. He basically guides you through his life, in the city of Marquette, Michigan. He talks about iron and breakfast and there’s one where he talks about the rat wars of Alberta, Canada. Long story. And then while he talks with you about those things, he lives his life. He visits his nana. He teaches choir. He goes on a date with the band teacher. It is a deeply sweet show. The stakes are never life and death, there aren’t any fights, and it’s funny, but there are very few jokes. Anyway, I truly love Joe Pera Talks With You, and I’m so thrilled to have him on Bullseye. -

CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, NORTHRIDGE Step Right Up! /But Wait, There’s More! A Performance Genealogy of the American Pitchman in the 20th Century A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements For the degree of Master of Arts In Theatre By Jason Lloyd Johnson December 2015 The thesis of Jason Lloyd Johnson is approved: Dr. Ah-Jeong Kim Date Dr. Leonamary Kennicott Date Dr. J’aime Morrison, Chair Date California State University, Northridge ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS With all that has gone into my research and writing of this thesis, I am extremely indebted and thankful to the following: Prof. Leigh Kennicott for introducing me to the works of the American Shakespeare, Eugene O'Neill, and for being on my graduate committee. Prof. Ah-Jeong Kim, for her continued support and guidance during my studies at CSUN. Prof. J’aime Morrison, Graduate Thesis Committee Chairperson. Thank you for introducing me to Irish Drama and Performance Studies. It was while studying Irish playwright Brian Friel's "Faith Healer", that you opened my eyes and to question "what is performance?" I feel that this sparked my genesis of curiosity, which led me to formulate this thesis. Lastly, I have two special ladies in my life that I would like to dedicate this thesis to: My daughter Jasmine… You will always be my little girl. My dearest Kazumi: wife, partner and best friend. Without you, none of this would have been possible. iii LIST OF FIGURES Figure Page 1. Figure of restoration of behavior model 9 2. Figure of Ward Hall 26 3. Figure of Bobby Reynolds 40 4.
