INTRODUCTION/WELCOME 1.1 Welcome from Rally China Dear Rally China participants, We are looking forward to welcoming you to Rally China, the Round 10 of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship on 9-11 September. This will be the 2nd Rally China since the 1st one 17 years ago. Do thanks to major support from Beijing Municipal Government and LeSports, the local promoter. The Rally Headquarters and Service Park will be located in Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Centre, the venue for APEC meeting, which is an epitome of the fast growing Chinese economy. This wonderful and magnificent image will lead you to find a different culture here and exciting rallying experience with people loving this sport so much after 30 years’ development since the first rally event taking place on this land in 1985. Rally China showcases one of the most beautiful regions in Beijing with the podium ceremony for power stage at the foot of the Great Wall, a strong contrast with the modern buildings and facilities of the Convention & Exhibition Centre where the event starts. Some of the special stages had been used in 1999 when the 1st Rally China sailed, but with sealed surface now due to the rapid development of that region. For rally people, the sporting challenge of the Rally China roads will be an immediate attraction. We do believe the rally will contribute to the regional economy through the direct spending of rally visitors and unmatchable global media exposure. Meanwhile, we also promise to make our best efforts to reach a carbon neutral status by innovation and new ideas for environmental sustainability, which is a goal that set by the FIA and the international community.     2016 Rally Sweden February 11 - 14, 2016 ROUND 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 Rally Sweden February 11 - 14, 2016 2016 HYUNDAI’S HELLO Welcome to Rally Sweden, round two of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship and another new challenge for Hyundai Motorsport. Rally Sweden will be the second event for the New Generation i20 WRC and a second different surface. We have tested on snow back in December and again last week with the new car and it’s gone well with no major issues. The drivers have been happy too; they’ve found good set-ups for the differential and the dampers so I think they are all quite confident. Thierry finished second in Sweden last year in the 2015 car but the drivers say that the New Generation i20 WRC feels even better. The car is a bit longer so it should be more stable on fast sections of road like you get in Sweden. We believe we have gained a bit of traction too, which is important on a low-grip surface like snow. In Sweden the car runs on gravel specification but there are specific details you can prepare for this event. You don’t want to get too much snow in the car because it adds extra weight so you have to make sure it is well sealed, inside the wheel arches and underneath the car. Also, because of the cold temperatures we don’t have to cool down the car as much as usual so we’ll use a different radiator.

    MEDIA INFORMATION 2016 FIA World Rally Championship (FIA WRC) Tour de Corse – Rallye de France The MICHELIN Pilot Sport S5 and H5 ready for the Rally of the 10,000 corners! After August’s demanding Rallye Deutschland and the cancellation of the scheduled visit to China, 2016 FIA World Rally Championship action resumes with another asphalt round, the Tour de Corse – Rallye de France. Some 70 percent of the French classic has been revised compared with this time 12 months ago, while its distance has been upped by 20 percent. It will continue to feature the Mediterranean island’s staggering variety of spectacular backdrops but the weather there can often be unsettled at this time of year. The total distance of 1,170.40km includes 390.92 competitive kilometres divided into 10 stages, with only Friday’s two attempts at Plage du Liamone-Sarrola-Carcopino carried over from 2015. Meanwhile, the service park has switched from Corte to Bastia Airport, but Ajaccio will continue to host the organisational nerve-centre and Thursday evening’s ceremonial start. Saturday’s leg will be the longest, with two loops of two stages totalling 169.04km. The Tour de Corse – Rallye de France promises to be quite tough on tyres because of the stage lengths involved (five of the 10 are around 50km in length), so strategies could play a decisive role. Also, changeable weather high in the mountains and the big gaps between stage start times could spring some surprises depending on tyre choices. The information provided by Michelin’s Technical Advisors is consequently likely to be more valuable than ever, although tyre calls are always ultimately the responsibility of the drivers.

The German duo of Fabian Kreim/Frank Christian is set to make its debut for the works-assisted ŠKODA MRF team at the Rally Whangarei in New Zealand, which takes place from Friday to Sunday. At the wheel of the second ŠKODA Fabia R5 are the experienced pair of Gaurav Gill/Glenn MacNeall (IND/AUS), who won the title for the Czech car maker in 2013. “We want to be at our best again in the APRC, and are hungry for title number five,” said ŠKODA Motorsport Director Michal Hrabánek. “We have a lot of fans in the densely- populated Asia-Pacific region, which is of great importance to the ŠKODA brand.” The 275 kilometres of special stage that make up the first APRC round is attended by thousands of fans in rally-mad New Zealand and traditionally forms one of the highlights of the season. The rally begins on Friday with two night stages held under floodlights on Pohe Island. The rally sport is an extremely popular sporting line in the Czech Republic that is expressed by crowds of enthusiastic fans, approximately about 200 000 people, standing along the route of special stages. This automobile rally is situated in Moravian town Zlín and since 1983 has became a part of European Rally Championship and since 2007 also a part of Intercontinental Rally Challenge with the considerable medial support of Eurosport. Concerning last year there were 104 competitors from 12 European countries from which 13 drivers with priority of FIA B and 14 cars of S2000 category occurred on the start. The overall win was reached by the French drivers Nicolas Vouilloz and Nicolas Klinger with Peugeot 207 S 2000 of Peugeot Sport Espana team.
