2001 VOLLEYBALL MAGAZINE BADGERS SPEND 16 DAYS IN EUROPE The Badgers celebrated their record-setting 2000 season with the Badger Volleyball Victory Tour, a 16-day tour TOP RECRUITING CLASSES of , Switzerland and France in late May and early June. Under NCAA rules, member institutions may participate in a foreign tour in any sport every four years. School The Badgers began their trip in Rome seeing such sights as the Sistine 1. Hawai’i Olympic gold medal team and a NCAA champion as both a player and coach, begins his first season as an assistant coach at Wisconsin. Wilde, 44, was a member of the United States volleyball team that won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics. He competed with the U.S. National Team from 1982–84 and again from 1989–91 and also served as an assistant coach with the U.S. men's national team from 1993–2000. Wilde comes to Wisconsin from U.S.A. Volleyball, where he was the manager of the High Performance Programs. Wilde was a three-time all-American at Pepperdine University, setting the Waves to the 1978 NCAA Championship. He returned to Pepperdine as the men's head coach from 1985–87 leading the Waves to the 1986 NCAA Championship.
