une is always full of promise – the longest day, the stirring of summer thoughts. And, this year, the dusting-down of plans we made last year, but most of which were put aside. JLockdown restrictions are beginning to ease in a way that starts to allow some new freedoms. There is continuing concern, of course, and caution as a consequence. But, for proof that things are creeping back to something like normal, check the Wing Hall calendar on page 7. It’s not so long ago that the Hall was shuttered and silent, for weeks on end. Now it’s opening up to a growing number of events and activities – alongside the critical role of hosting the Vaccination Clinic. There’s no substitute for human contact. Here at What’s On in Wing we’ve done our best to help fill the gap during lockdown, and we’ll continue to get you the news and gossip, albeit on our sometimes erratic schedule. We welcome feedback – it helps us improve, and shape a publication that reflects the community’s needs. And, as always, when you’re looking for help, please turn to the advertisers on these pages first. They’ve been bravely weathering extraordinary conditions, and deserve our support. If you can work out the significance of the pearls and the honeysuckle here, send us an email. First correct answer gets a name-check (get that) in the next issue. No other month in the year begins on the same day as June. Let it never be said that What’s On in Wing does not bring you some extraordinary facts, and some extraordinarily useless ones, too. Stay safe, stay well, Joyce and everyone on the What’s On team.
