Title Available from: Department of Libraries National Library of Pakistan Constitution Avenue, Islamabad II PREFACE The main objective of this Pakistan National Bibliography is to produce and enlist literary materials published in Pakistan and deposited at National Library of Pakistan under Copyright Ordinance 1962 as amended by Copyright (Amendment) Act 1973, 1992 and Copyright (Amendment) Ordinance, 2000. Other resources of acquisition of books like purchase, exchange and donation have also been used to provide bibliographical detail of Pakistani literary materials. Span of coverage This bibliography covers materials published in Urdu, English and other Pakistani languages. Annual volume of Pakistan National Bibliography 2008 covers 647 English, 1077 Urdu and 132 other languages books. Collection Display This Bibliography is arranged subject-wise. The classification of subjects is based on the 22nd edition of Dewey Decimal Classification. Cataloguing practices follow the Anglo- American Cataloguing Rules 2nd Revised Edition, 1988. There are three parts of this issue of the Bibliography. Part 1 gives details of Pakistani publications in English language. Part II carries Urdu language publications. Part III lists the publications in Pakistani regional languages and other oriental languages. Each of these parts is further divided into three sections:- (a) Classified section: This section arranges the entries subject wise in numerical sequence of classification numbers with full bibliographical details. (b) Index: Entries in this section are arranged alphabetically by authors, titles, compilers, editors, corporate authors and subject headings with brief bibliographical details. (c) Publishers List: A list of publishers whose books are included in the bibliography is given at the end of English and Urdu / other languages part. III Words of thanks I am thankful to Ch. Muhammad Nazir, Director General and Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed, Director (Technical) for facilitation in compilation of this National Document.
