PIRATES vs. February 29, 2016 - McKechnie Field in Bradenton, FL TODAY: The Pirates are playing their annual Black and Gold intrasquad game...Proceeds from the $8 General Admission charge will benefit the Manatee Public School Foundation as well as Wakeland Elementary School and GD Rogers Garden Elementary. ON THE MOUND: Pitching for Team Black today will be , and (each expected to pitch 2.0 innings)...On the mound for Team Gold will be Tyler Glasnow (2.0ip), John Holdzkom (1.0ip) and Trevor Williams (2.0ip). TOMORROW: The Pirates are scheduled to play their first official spring training game - a 1:05 affair against the Tigers in Lakeland...Kyle Lobstein is expected to start for the Bucs against Detroit’s Matt Boyd (LH)....Wilfredo Boscan, Neftali Feliz, Curtis Partch, Rob Scahill and Trey Haley are also scheduled to pitch for the Pirates. THE ROSTER: There are 61 active players in Major League camp (30 , 6 catchers, 17 infielders and 8 )...RHP and LHP Jesse Biddle had Tommy John surgery last year and both are expected to miss spring training action. BROADCAST NEWS: In addition to the games televised by Root Sports, 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh is scheduled to broadcast 16 spring training games this year, beginning with the action tomorrow from Lakeland...The Pirates will also be heard via webcast at pirates.com on eight occasions. NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: was hired as a play-by-play announcer on January 30, replacing Tim Neverett, who left the Pirates for a similar role with the Red Sox in Boston...Block spent the last four years in a play-by-play role with the Brewers after spending the 2011 season hosting the radio post-game show on KABC in Los Angeles...Block joins Greg Brown, , and on the Pirates broadcast team.
