The chapter on ‘Activity Recommendations for Central Sulawesi, Maluku and North Maluku’ provides a description of the key findings, activity rationale and recommendations, and should therefore be read in conjunction with this section. i. Introduction Reliable, accurate and objective media, whether it be mainstream, alternative or traditional/non- conventional, can both prevent and resolve conflict through the automatic functions of responsibly disseminating information, furthering awareness and knowledge, promoting participatory and transparent governance, and addressing perceived grievances. In this regard, the effects of media on conflict can be viewed both in terms of the negative repercussions that inadvertent or overtly propagandistic media may have in terms of fuelling tensions and provoking conflict, as well as the potential positive impact it may have if based on basic professional standards, combined with diverse access to information, reasonable financial resources and adherence to ethical codes. Such media can contribute to societal reconciliation, change misperceptions and broaden understanding of the causes and consequences of conflict. ii. Media and Conflict in Maluku, North Maluku and Central Sulawesi Since the Reformasi era started in 1998, the three provinces of Maluku, North Maluku and Central Sulawesi have been affected by conflict. With the Reformasi era came press freedoms under the new Indonesian Press Law (August 30, 1999), which meant that all three conflicts were covered by the first ‘free’ Indonesian media since more than 30 years. The national media, to a fairly large extend, covered the conflicts in each province. However, due to the emergence of a number of conflicts in Indonesia in the early post New Order days, the continuity and depths of this coverage varied significantly. The national coverage also tended to focus on Ambon and Maluku, whilst the coverage of the other two provinces received less consistent attention. In all three conflict areas, the provincial media (including mainstream, alternative, traditional and non- conventional forms) addressed the conflicts from different perspectives and with varying intensity. Many failed to provide consistent independent balanced coverage and in the early phases physical attacks against and abuse of the media by the combatant groups took place in all three provinces. Media infrastructure and buildings were destroyed or looted and in many cases local outlets chose to close down during the most intense fighting. This has meant that all three provinces have had periods with none or almost no local media coverage, leaving rumours and propaganda as the prime local information source. Local media in all three provinces were, and still are, accused of being biased. Sometimes these accusations came from the combatant parties who expected the media to be their mouthpieces, whilst at other times the media took sides in the conflict or were forced to choose sides. In certain cases the lack of independent and balanced local coverage can be explained by the fact that local media owners were not sufficiently isolated from society and their outlets reflected popular opinions.

Masa Kini Mandiri baru mendapatkan SIUPP. Surat izin usaha penerbitan pers tersebutmerupakan landasan hukum bagi PT. Masa Kini Mandiri sebagai penerbit SuratKabar Harian Umun Lampung Post.1 Lampung Post pertama terbit dalam bentuk tabloid dengan 4 halaman. Sejakbergabung Media Group, Lampung Post berkembang sampai 20 halaman. Pendirian Surat Kabar Harian Lampung Post diawali dengan adanya himbauan dari materi penerangan ( Menpen ) Mashuri pada tahun 1974. 1 Dokumentasi Pra Survei, Lampung Post, 01 November 2015 28 Surat Kabar Harian Umum Lampung Post sebagai koran pertama dantepercaya di Lampung yang pada tanggal 09 Agustus 2015 kemarin genap berusia 41 tahun, telah menunjukan tingkat kematangan dan mampu melahirkan produk informasi yang jujur, berkualitas dan di butuhkan sebagai media dengan reputasi tertinggi dan tetap menjadi tumpuan pemuasan informasi, walaupun kini telah hadir beberapa surat kabar sejenis yang hadir di daerah Lampung tapi Surat Kabar Harian Umum Lampung Post tetap memberikan sajian yang bermutu kepada pembaca, tapi perlu diketahui dengan hadirnya surat kabar yang hadir di daerah Lampung otomatis ini akan memepengaruhi tingkat pendapatan jumlah penjualan surat kabar begitu juga dengan pendapatan jumlah pemasangan iklan.

    TABOO IN THE BAJAU TOROSIAJE TRIBE SOCIETY, POHUWATO DISTRICT, GORONTALO PROVINCE Nur Aina Ahmad IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo Eka Sartika Universitas Negeri Gorontalo ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the taboo concepts that are still valid as a legacy of customs, traditions, and culture of the Bajau people in Torosiaje Village, Pohuwato Regency, and their application in everyday life. In this study, the taboo is any form of prohibition in the form of actions or words used as the cultural heritage of the Bajau Torosiaje people from generation to generation. This study is expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions as sources of information and reference, especially regarding the Bajau people’s traditions. The deeds taboo, which is still preserved as a legacy of tradition and culture in the Bajau Torosiaje community, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, is the community’s social and moral control in their daily behavior. These prohibitions govern all contexts of community life from birth to death. These taboos can be in the form of prohibitions that must be avoided by a pregnant woman or restrictions that fishers must obey while at sea. It is quite reasonable, considering the Bajau Torosiaje community’s activities, which cannot be separated from the sea as a place to live and as a source of livelihood. Language or speech taboo includes all prohibitions aimed at controlling the use of diction or words, which, if violated, are believed by the Bajau Torosiaje people to bring harm. The language taboo in the Bajau Torosiaje community can be the prohibition of mentioning individual animals’ names or mentioning the names of demons and spirits.

One of the rituals is wedding ritual where this ritual is interesting to explore due to its huge numbers of cultural and religious philosophy particularly the wedding ritual in Islamic society such as people in Gorontalo City – an Islamic based city in Sulawesi, eastern Indonesia. The wedding ritual in Gorontalo is thought-provoking because this retual is the longest ritual which consists of several phases, Mopoloduwo Rahasia, Tolobalango, Depito Dutu, Mopotilandahu, Saronde Dance, and Akaji. Each and every phase of this ritual has its religious, cultural and moral values in it. Despite the importance of its values, traditional marriage customs in Gorontalo city that used to be a symbol of the viscosity of cultural elements in social life has shifted due to some reasons – rational, practical, fashionable and modernist way of thinking and way of life. Another thing is the length of wedding ritual costs more money that has been the trigger of the shift even this has been a social burden for certain groups of people.

In order to carry out this assessment it is necessary to have a method to know the environmental condition of the road. In the relation to the roadside environmental problems, the planner should be know the environmental condition of each road section or road side, such as which roadside have bad environmental condition. This is very useful for planning and improving purpose. This paper describes the method of evaluating the environmental condition of road through the comparison of each roadside. To support this evaluating works, the preference analysis method were developed is used to find the designated output. Through this evaluation method, the ranking of roadside in relation to the environmental condition is proposed. The ranking is presented from the roadside with bad environmental condition this micro level presentation is then practicable and enormously useful for further inspire in roadside environmental evaluation.
