STEVEN PRICE COMPOSER Steven Price is an Academy Award winning film composer. His unique, story-driven approach to the craft of film scoring has seen him work on some of the most innovative productions of recent years. From Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity to Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, Steven’s individualistic scores seek to enhance the ideas and images of great filmmakers in truly bespoke ways. Steven’s diverse music reflects the wide range of movie and television projects he has been involved with. Beginning his career in the late 1990s, he contributed to productions such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Batman Begins, before making his scoring debut in 2011 with Joe Cornish’s inner-city horror comedy, Attack the Block. Recent years have seen him compose distinctive scores for Claire McCarthy’s reimagining of Hamlet, Ophelia, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and the Paramount Animation Wonder Park. From his incorporation of original WW2 tanks in the percussion of the Brad Pitt starring Fury to the wind instrument driven score created for Tom Harper’s The Aeronauts, the music created for each production seeks to give each story its unique voice, the result of an experimental and collaborative process. His work in the Natural History realm, working alongside Sir David Attenborough on The Hunt, (for which Steven won a Bafta), and the Netflix Original Our Planet, (nominated for two score Emmys), will continue in 2020 with a new live arena spectacular, Our Planet Live in Concert, the premiere for which will be held at London’s O2 Arena in October 2020.

Rushing Professor Frank Grady,Department of English, University of Missouri, Saint Louis ii ABSTRACT Since 2000, the comic-book superhero blockbuster has become Hollywood’s most salient genre. “Heroes, Incorporated: A Political Economy of the Superhero Blockbuster” examines these seemingly reactionary fantasies of American power, analyzing their role in transmedia storytelling for a conglomerated and world-spanning entertainment industry. This dissertation argues that for all their apparent investment in the status quo and the hegemony of white men, superhero blockbusters actually reveal the disruptive and inhuman logic of capital, which drives both technological and cultural change. Although focused on the superhero film from 2000 to 2015, this project also considers the print and electronic media across which conglomerates extend their franchises. It thereby contributes to the materialist study of popular culture and transmedia adaptation, showing how 21st century Hollywood adapts old media for new platforms, technologies, and audiences. The first chapter traces the ideology of these films to their commercial roots, arguing that screen superheroes function as allegories of intellectual property. The hero’s “brand” identity signifies stability, even as the character’s corporate owners continually revise him (rarely her).

SEASON OF THE WITCH Production Notes SEASON OF THE WITCH Synopsis Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage (National Treasure, Ghost Rider) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Hellboy II, Sons of Anarchy) star in this supernatural action adventure about a heroic Crusader and his closest friend who return home after decades of fierce fighting, only to find their world destroyed by the Plague. The church elders, convinced that a girl accused of being a witch is responsible for the devastation, command the two to transport the strange girl to a remote monastery where monks will perform an ancient ritual to rid the land of her curse. They embark on a harrowing, action-filled journey that will test their strength and courage as they discover the girl‟s dark secret and find themselves battling a terrifyingly powerful force that will determine the fate of the world. The years of brutal warfare in the name of God have stripped Behmen (Cage) of his taste for bloodshed—and his loyalty to the Church.
