Superjet International and Powerjet Announce the Completion of the First Ever Export Credit Financing for a Sukhoi Superjet 100
SuperJet International and PowerJet announce the completion of the first ever export credit financing for a Sukhoi Superjet 100 February 10th, 2013 - The first ever export credit financing package for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 was completed in December 2013 at delivery of the fourth out of twenty Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) regional jets ordered by the Mexican airline Interjet. The aircraft was financed through a multilateral export credit guaranteed by Coface, SACE and VEB for the French, Italian and Russian partners, respectively. It represents one of the first financing transactions wholly guaranteed by Coface, the French export credit agency (ECA), for a regional aircraft. It is a first also for SACE acting as a direct guarantor for an aircraft with a 100% guarantee. At the same time, it is also a first for the Russian government, as VEB financed the Russian part in collaboration with the French and Italian export credit agencies and following OECD international rules for aircraft export credit financing. “This first ECA financing was a major international landmark in our industry - said Nazario Cauceglia, CEO of SuperJet international - and our collaboration with PowerJet and its parent company Snecma (Safran) was invaluable. I am sure it will allow a vital boost for future international sales of the SSJ100. Offering our customers not just the most efficient aircraft in its class, but also a competitive financial package, is key factor to the success of this new program." AFA Honors Heroic Aeroflot Flight Attendants on Flight 1492 Resolution: WHEREAS, on May 5, 2019, Aeroflot Flight 1492 from Moscow–Sheremetyevo to Murmansk, Russia, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, was climbing after take-off when it was struck by lightning, and WHEREAS, Flight 1492 bounced on landing and touched down hard, causing the undercarriage to collapse and a fire to erupt, which quickly engulfed the rear of the aircraft killing 41 of the 78 passengers and crew, and WHEREAS, AFA mourns the loss of the 41 who died including our colleague Flight Attendant Maxim Moiseyev, who died on the burning Aeroflot 1492 aircraft, and WHEREAS, Maxim died while working desperately to save lives and together with the rest of his crew Maxim did save 37 lives and he will be remembered as a hero, and WHEREAS, it was reported that Flight Attendant Tatyana Kasatkina even 'grabbed passengers by the collar' to evacuate people as quickly as possible, and WHEREAS, Reports from people on the plane indicate the evacuation may have been slowed by passengers grabbing their bags. Videos show passengers taking their carry-on bags with them as they exited the plane. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, AFA-CWA recognizes crew of Aeroflot 1492 for their heroic efforts to save lives. The Russian government “strategic” significance of the aviation industry is explained by the integrative role it plays in the Russian economy. Due to its close relationship with other associated industries - component manufacturing and machine-building - the Russian aviation industry has a significant influence on Russia’s development towards a more innovative economy. The Russian government currently pursues the development of aviation through its state strategy “Development of the Aviation Industry for 2013-2025”. The program was approved in December 2012 and the total amount of funding to be allocated is 1.7 trillion Rubles (appx. $56.6 billion). The Russian aviation industry consists of the following manufacturing segments: aircraft, helicopter, aircraft engine, avionics, and air components. The industry includes 248 Russian enterprises. In 2011, total revenue was more than 608 billion Rubles (appx. $20.2 billion). The industry provides employment for 400,000 personnel and contributes more than 1.1% GDP to the Russian economy, according to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. As part of the aviation development strategy, the Russian government is interested in international cooperation on new aircraft projects and the transfer of Western technology. This is an opportunity for U.S. companies to get a foothold in the Russian economy and to engage in mutually beneficial aviation projects. -

However a year into the top job, chief executive Philippe Petitcolin is keen to slim down the partially state-owned group’s sprawling portfolio, divesting non-core subsidiaries in security, and using the proceeds – as well as revenues from Safran’s stake in the booming CFM International – to invest in enterprises in aerospace equipment that “fit our DNA”. At the same time – a decade after Safran came into existence with the merger of French household names Snecma and Sagem – he wants to create a group identity by rebranding its many operating companies. This will see some of the biggest names in aerospace, such as Snecma, Turbomeca, Labinal and Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, begin to disappear later this year. “We are 10 years old as a company and it is time to act and think as one Safran,” says Petitcolin, a 28- year veteran of the group, who previously ran engine maker Snecma and wiring specialist Labinal. Relentless demand for commercial aircraft means Safran’s aerospace propulsion business continues to dominate its revenues. Safran and General Electric each own 50% of 40-year-old joint venture CFM International, whose CFM56 has a roughly three-quarter share of the narrowbody market, powering Boeing 737s and its 737 Max successor, and about half of all Airbus A320 and A320neo family jets.
