Riding Local Plan - Draft Allocations Document (2021) 1 1 Introduction 1 Introduction The East Riding Local Plan Review 1.1 This document follows on from the Options Document published for consultation in November 2018 and is the second stage of the process for reviewing the East Riding Local Plan. 1.2 A number of documents make up the current Local Plan. These are listed below and illustrated by Figure 1. Strategy Document – sets the overall strategic direction for the Local Plan, setting policies to guide decisions on planning applications. Allocations Document – allocates sites for new development and different land uses (such as housing, retail, industry or open space). Bridlington Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP) – provides specific policies to guide development and contribute to the urban renaissance of Bridlington Town Centre.1 1.3 These documents are complemented by a Policies Map that shows allocations for particular land uses or designations such as areas of open space, which relate to specific policies in the Local Plan. Figure 1 The East Riding Local Plan Structure 1 The Bridlington Town Centre AAP covers the period 2012-2021. Part of the review of the Local Plan is considering how to embed the key planning objectives of the AAP into a revised Local Plan. 2 East Riding Local Plan – Draft Allocations Document (2021) Introduction 1 1.4 A review of the current Local Plan, adopted in 2016, is required by national planning policy and should take account of any changes in national policy, any significant changes in evidence that helps to inform local planning policies, and to address issues identified as a result of monitoring the performance of the Plan. In the East Riding’s case, the Inspector’s report of the examination of the current Local Plan also identified a limited number of areas that should be part of any review.
