  • PSG Newsletter
PSG BIG Sing in Bromham - February 25th . PSG 93 singers! Newsletter March 2020 Issue 33 As we said in the February Newsletter – we have been running for six years and in those 6 years we have clocked up 61 songs in our repertoire. (See the list at the end of this Newsletter.) It really is an amazing selection of songs across the three broad genres. Mastering an average of 10 new songs a year and in addition experimenting with various tunes at our Masterclasses, it is quite an achievement. When we consider that most members attend one session a week, the learning rate is very good. We run about 48 weeks of the year so by the time we take out the intense sessions honing songs before an event performance, we are mastering a new song in about 4 weeks. Talking of Masterclasses, on Sunday 23rd February, Chloe Jordon introduced 23 of us to the intricacies of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. Whilst his tunes and melodies sound simple, it is not until you start singing them that the complexity of the timing becomes evident. Lloyd Webber may be a bit formulaic in his works but with 21 Musicals and way over 250 songs written, he is estimated to be worth over £820 million, so BELOW: Chloe Jordan leading the he can’t be doing too much wrong! PSG MASTERCLASS The masterclasses were introduced a couple of years ago to provide both an insight into some of the technicalities of singing performance but also to expose choir members to other coaching talent whilst experimenting with harmonies and vocal expression.

He had prepared his remarks carefully and read them over several times in advance. But now he looked out at the crowd – neighbors, dignitaries, civic leaders, even the media. Public speaking was hardly his forte, and he certainly was not used to the limelight. He adjusted his glasses, took a deep breath, and began. He had not anticipated the intense emotion that overtook him near the end of his speech. A quiet and strong man, the last thing he wanted to do was cry in public. But as he spoke of his gratitude to Jon Bon Jovi for the financial support that made possible his experience of recovery at St. Elizabeth’s Recovery Residence, it came out: just how much it meant that the generosity of others had helped him turn his life around. The compassion that brought him to this day, which was now the compassion that caused him to dedicate his life from here on to helping others. • Thank You, Secretary Donovan, for That Kind Introduction
Remarks: Jon Bon Jovi World Habitat Day October 5, 2009 National Building Museum Washington, D.C. Thank you, Secretary Donovan, for that kind introduction. Congratulations to all of today’s honorees. I want to thank you for your inspiring work. I’d also like to recognize the work that H.U.D. is doing. Under Secretary Donovan’s watch, the people who are in need have been given a face and a voice. H.U.D. is not just implementing policies and programs to build communities and homes but is championing green, sustainable development. I’m honored to have this opportunity to join you here today. I understand that for some the name ‘Jon Bon Jovi’ on today’s list of guest speakers might have raised an eyebrow. So, I’d like to take a few moments to share with you how I became involved in community service, became an advocate for affordable housing, and why I’m part of the greater conversation we’re having on World Habitat Day. Like each of you, I’ve grown into the person I am today. I am a husband, a parent, and a concerned, committed citizen of the world. By trade (as I hope some of you know) I am an entertainer, the singer in a somewhat successful rock ‘n’ roll band. For the past twenty-five years, I’ve toured these United States and across most of Europe. I’ve been to Asia, Africa, Australia, Central and South America. I have seen progress and I have seen change, some for the better and some not.
