RWYC NOTICE OF RACE Royal Windermere Yacht Club Club Annual Racing Programme 2020 The Organising Authority is the Royal Windermere Yacht Club
1. RULES 1.1. Club racing will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2. This NOR is for RWYC Club Racing only 1.3. Windermere Navigational Byelaws 2008 (https://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/169900/LDNP-Windermere- Byelaws-web-2016.pdf) 1.4. Club races are open to boats holding a valid certificate of measurement. 1.5. A boat without a certificate may apply for dispensation from the Dinghy Committee.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1. Entries will be accepted for boats of the following classes:- Windermere 17’ Class; Flying Fifteen Class; GP14 Class; Dinghy Handicap Class, Cruiser Handicap Class. 2.2. Subject to sub paragraph 2.4 entries will only be accepted from members of the Royal Windermere Yacht Club. 2.3. Temporary members of the club or an amateur member of a recognised yacht club may helm a boat entered by a member. Such boat shall count and may take a prize except prizes which are awarded to the helm not the boat (eg Junior Races). Notwithstanding the foregoing sentence temporary members who have sailed regularly at the club and have applied to join may compete and win such prize. 2.4. A temporary member who has paid membership fees and racing fees may enter a boat in any race and shall count and may win any prizes, provided that they have submitted a correctly completed nomination form before 1st October in the relevant season. 2.5. Junior Handicap helms shall be under 18 years old on 1st August in the current season. 2.6. Subject to 2.7 Junior helm & crew shall be under 18 Years old on 1st August in the current season. 2.7. Junior helms: a) up to 8 years of age - an adult may crew and all races will count. b) between 8 and 11 years of age - an adult may crew and the first 3 such races will count. 2.8. In all races the crew may steer temporarily while the helm makes adjustments. The helm shall at all times be responsible.
3. FEES. 3.1. A boat shall not race until her dues required by the club for said boat are paid, this shall include mooring, berthing or race fees as levied by the club. 3.2. An online entry form is available at https://www.royal-windermere.co.uk/boat-registration-form/
4. SCHEDULE. 4.1. The schedule of races is set out in Appendix A 4.2. The warning signal for each fleet will be 5 minutes before the published start time. 4.3. Where more than one race is scheduled the second will follow as soon as practical. 4.4. RWYC Sailing instructions are available on the website. https://www.royal-windermere.co.uk/rwyc- racing-information/
5. EQUIPMENT AND MEASUREMENT CHECKS 5.1. A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by a member of the race committee to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection by an official class measurer
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 6.1. RWYC SAILING INSTRUCTIONS will apply to all club racing, they will be available a minimum of 24hrs before racing commences. The SI’s and NOR can be found at the following locations: a) On the notice board in the club house b) on the website. https://www.royal-windermere.co.uk/rwyc-racing-information/
7. Scoring 7.1. Scoring will be as defined in Section 12 of the RWYC SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 8.1. Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event.
9. INSURANCE 9.1. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3 million per event or the equivalent and competitors shall sign a declaration to that effect either by signature or digital acknowledgement prior to racing. Single race day A boat failing to finish 45 minutes after the first boat for that fleet crosses the line will score DNF
Double race day First race: A boat failing to finish 30 minutes after the first boat for that fleet crosses the line will score DNF Second race: A boat failing to finish 45 minutes after the first boat for that fleet crosses the line will score DNF
COURSE MEETINGS: These will be held as follows: Saturdays Meetings at 12.30, except when racing starts at 13.30, meetings will be at 12.00 Sundays Meetings at 12.30
