The Green Town Street | | | DE4 4HB THE GREEN

Formerly two cottages, this stunning period Grade II Listed property, has been sympathetically and masterfully transformed into a deceptively spacious five bedroom, three reception room property set over three floors.

SELLER INSIGHT

Nestled within the glorious Derbyshire countryside, just seven miles from the historic market town of Ashbourne is Brassington, arguably one of the most picturesque villages in the Peak District, and one that boasts a much sought-after primary school as well as an award-winning pub. The Green is an extremely attractive Grade II listed family home that occupies a coveted position right in the heart of the village. “Before buying this house back in 2017 we’d rented a property here for quite some time and we completely fell in love with the place,” says Anita. “It’s such a beautiful location and so peaceful, and despite the fact that the village is completely surrounded by some of the most spectacular countryside, it doesn’t feel too remote. The school was also a huge draw; our children have thrived there and it’s a place that really brings the community together so we’ve made some wonderful friends during our time here. Brassington is a very special place and it’s going to be such a wrench to leave.”

“When we discovered that The Green had come onto the market, despite the fact that it needed quite a bit of work, we jumped at the chance to own it. It originally dates back to the 18th century and began life as two cottages, which over time have been joined together and converted into one lovely big family home. However, the interior was all quite tired and dated when we came here so we decided to strip the whole house right back and essentially start from scratch. We had it rewired, all the walls were replastered, we redecorated, and we also relocated the kitchen to a larger room and extended up into the loft area to create another two good-size bedrooms, so we’ve made much better use of the overall space. The house has been brought up to modern standards, but although we’ve added a new kitchen and new bathrooms etc, there are still some gorgeous original features that give it real character and charm.”

“The house is really spacious and we also have off-road parking for two cars and a good-size garden that wraps around the side of the property,” continues Anita. “It’s mainly laid to lawn so ideal for children, but we also have a pretty patio area where we can sit and soak in the spectacular views.”

“The kitchen is probably my favourite room in the house. We’ve installed bespoke handmade, hand-painted solid wood units and beautiful solid wood worktops, and we also have a lovely big Rangemaster so it looks like a classic country kitchen, and it’s a room that just has a really warm and welcoming atmosphere.”

“This is a place where you can enjoy countryside living at its absolute best. We’re just a couple of miles from Water where we’ve been able to go kayaking, sailing, cycling or fishing, and of course we’re within the Peak District National Park so there’s an array of footpaths right on our doorstep – we can walk for miles without ever having to cross a road.”

“The house is now ideal for modern family life, but it still retains a number of beautiful original features. We had the lovely old beams sandblasted and during the renovation process we uncovered some amazing stone fireplaces.”

“We’re moving because we need more land and a separate annex so that my mother and grandmother can come and live with us, but we’ll be really sad to leave The Green and Brassington itself,” says Anita. “It’s a really beautiful family home in a really fantastic location, and I know that whoever comes here next will be exceptionally happy here.”*
