Divisional Pr ofile and Development Indicators from Census of India 201 (MirzapurVINDHY , Sant RavidasACHAL Nagar DIVISION1 and Sonbhadra Districts) VINDHYACHAL DIVISION Dir ectorate of Census Operations, Uttar Pradesh V N A R O A I N S A I V S I I D D I D V A I B A S H A I L L O N A I N D I A Division SRNB - Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi) Vindhyachal division is one of the 18 administrative divisions of Uttar Pradesh with its headquarters at Mirzapur. The division came into existence on 14 June 1997 with districts comprising of Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi) and Sonbhadra. The traditional carpet belt stretches to two districts of Vindhayachal (Mirzapur and Sant Ravidas Nagar) and the district of Sonbhadra is known for its mining activities and highest percentage share of tribal communities in the state. (ii) Census 2011 is the fifteenth in an unbroken series since 1872 and it is the seventh Census of independent India. The present publication presents Census 2011 data highlights for Vindyachal Division of Uttar Pradesh. It is a follow-up of the state level publication on Primary Census Abstract data highlights and printed with the support of UNICEF office for Uttar Pradesh. The divisional profile is prepared to ensure data dissemination to the lowest administrative levels and contains data at District, Tahsil and Town level from Primary Census Abstract and household amenities and assets tables. Data on disability, work status and age group are also included in the profile. Thematic maps are prepared with the help of CensusInfo version 2.0 and incorporated in the document to make the data set user friendly. In the state of Uttar Pradesh, several schemes and programmes are implemented to meet developmental needs of children and well-being of women and other marginalized sections. Hence, efforts have been made to present the data relevant for planning and policy corrections through tables, graphs and maps. We hope that the data set made available at the Tahsil and Town level are discussed at various levels of administration and will improve use of data for planning and monitoring among district and block level administrators, front line workers, academicians and practitioners of civil society organization. Sex-ratio Sex ratio has been defined as the number of females per 1000 males in the population. Child Sex-ratio Child Sex-ratio (0-6 years) has been defined as the number of females in age-group 0-6 years per 1000 males in the same age-group in the population. Literate A person aged 7 years and above who can both read and write with understanding in any language has been taken as literate. Literacy rate The ratio of the number of literates per 100 persons in the age group 7 years and above. Main Workers Those workers who had worked for the major part of the reference period (i.e. 6 months or more) are termed as Main Workers. Marginal Workers Those workers who had not worked for the major part of the reference period (i.e. less than 6 months) are termed as Marginal Workers. Cultivators For purposes of the census a person is classified as cultivator if he or she is engaged in cultivation of land owned or held from Government or held from private persons or institutions for payment in money, kind or share. Agricultural Labourers A person who works on another person's land for wages in money or kind or share is regarded as an agricultural labourer. Household Industry Workers Household Industry is defined as an industry conducted by one or more members of the household at home or within the village in rural areas and only within the precincts of the house where the household lives in urban areas. Other Workers All workers, i.e., those who have been engaged in some economic activity during the last one year, but are not cultivators or agricultural labourers or in Household Industry, are 'Other Workers(OW)'. The type of workers that come under this category of 'OW' include all government servants, municipal employees, teachers, factory workers, plantation workers, those engaged in trade, commerce, business, transport, banking, mining, construction, political or social work, priests, entertainment artists, etc. In effect, all those workers other than cultivators or agricultural labourers or household industry workers, are 'Other Workers' Work participation rate Work participation rate is defined as the percentage of total workers (main and marginal) to total population Town Town is the smallest unit for urban areas. The definition of urban area adopted is as follows: (a) All statutory places with a municipality, corporation, cantonment board or notified town area committee, etc. (b) A place satisfying the following three criteria simultaneously: i) a minimum population of 5,000; ii) at least 75 per cent of male working population engaged in non- agricultural pursuits; and iii) a density of population of at least 400 per sq. km. (1,000 per sq. mile). City Towns with population of 1,00,000 and above are called cites. ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI ASHWINI KUMAR CHOUBEY) (a) The Ministry has granted total 26 Environmental Clearances (EC) under the provisions of the EIA Notification, 2006, as amended to the coal based power plants during the last five years. The list of EC granted during the said period is at Annexure-I. (b) As per information compiled by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), 126 coal based thermal power plant units have been shut down during March 2016 to June 2021 due to various reasons viz. techno-economic and commercial considerations including compliance of emission norms. The list of these coal based thermal power plant units including dates of retirement are enclosed at Annexure-II. (c) & (d)The CEA in November, 2019 has identified 81coal based old and inefficient thermal power plant units for tentative retirement after examining on case to case basis.

Srivastava Centre of Advanced Study, Department of Geology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi -221005 Abstract The Precambrian rocks exposed in the southern part of Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh rocks form a part of Chhotanagpur plateau of the central part of India. Geologically it belongs to the Chhotanagpur Granite Gneiss Complex (CGGC) which has witnessed multiple tectonic deformations. From the analysis of the folds of this region four deformation phases have been identified for the CGGC rocks. The characteristic fold interference of dome and basin type has rendered the present day topography of the Chhotanagpur plateau which is different from nearby plateaux on other Precambrian rocks in central India. Introduction The structural features are the manifestations of the deforming forces that have acted on the rock bodies since their formation. Each rock type possesses different mechanical and physical properties which vary with conditions under which it deforms. Therefore, diverse varieties of structures are displayed by the rocks which constitute the earth's crust. The systematic study of these structures i.e. the structural analysis reveals the deformational histories of the rock bodies in different parts of the crust. Folds are those structures which develop during the ductile deformation of the layered rocks in response to the tectonic forces. Therefore the systematic studies and analysis can reveals many aspects of the tectonic events that the rocks has undergone.
