Journal of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels-University of Sadat City, Vol. 4, Issue (2/1), December, 2020 Aviation Rankings' Misjudgment: Inspiration of Egypt Air and Cairo International Airport Cases 1Farouk Abdelnabi Hassanein Attaalla 1Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Fayoum University Abstract This study aims to make a comprehensive assessment of the three most popular aviation rankings; Skytrax, AirHelp and TripAdvisor from a critical perspective supported by a global field study conducted in the same methodology as these three rankings have been done. This study is based on the descriptive statistics to analyze field data gathered about EgyptAir and other airlines, Cairo International Airport and other airports and comparing these results with what is published in these three rankings in 2018. The current study reveals that the results of these three global rankings are characterized by shortcomings and lack of value and unfairness. Finally, the study suggests a model for fairness and equity in the rankings of airlines and airports. Keywords: Air Rankings, Egypt Air, Cairo International Airport, Equity. 1- Introduction Through scanning the international airlines and airports rankings for the recent five years from 2013 to 2018, it is found that no understandable and embarrassing absence for Egypt Air (MS) and Cairo International Airport (CAI). However, Arabic airlines and Airports such as Qatar Airways, Emirates Airways, Oman Air, Etihad Airways, Saudia Airlines, Royal Jordanian and Air Maroc, Hamad International Airport and Queen Alia International Airport have occupied different ranks through these years. Their ranks may be one of the top 10 airline and airport positions, while others occupy one of the top 100 airlines and airports in the world. -

Copyright and re-use policy See http://shura.shu.ac.uk/information.html Sheffield Hallam University Research Archive http://shura.shu.ac.uk British Imperial Policy and the Indian Air Route, 1918-1932 Teresa Crompton A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of Sheffield Hallam University for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy January 2014 Abstract The thesis examines the development of the civil air route between Britain and India from 1918 to 1932. Although an Indian route had been pioneered before the First World War, after it ended, fourteen years would pass before the route was established on a permanent basis. The research provides an explanation for the late start and subsequent slow development of the India route. The overall finding is that progress was held back by a combination of interconnected factors operating in both Britain and the Persian Gulf region. These included economic, political, administrative, diplomatic, technological, and cultural factors. The arguments are developed through a methodology that focuses upon two key theoretical concepts which relate, firstly, to interwar civil aviation as part of a dimension of empire, and secondly, to the history of aviation as a new technology. -

RSC/2-WP/13 30/09/2013 International Civil Aviation Organization Second Meeting of the RASG-MID Steering Committee (RSC/2) (Amman, Jordan, 28 – 30 October 2013) Agenda Item 3: Regional Performance Framework for Safety OUTCOME OF THE FIRST MID REGION SAFETY SUMMIT-2013 (Presented by IATA) SUMMARY IATA and ICAO organized the First MID Safety Summit on 28-29 April 2013, under the auspices of RASG-MID. The event was hosted by Bahrain CAA, and supported by industry and safety partners. This working paper presents the outcome of the Summit. Action by the meeting is at paragraph 3. 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 The First Middle East Safety Summit was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation. The Summit was organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and was hosted by the Ministry of Transportation’s Civil Aviation Affairs. 1.2 This event brought together industry stakeholders experts – including Air Navigation Service Providers, Airport Operators/Regulators, and Airlines – to discuss key Regional Safety concerns with the overall aim of improving Aviation Safety in the Middle East. A total of 110 representatives attended the Summit from Airlines, Airports, Regulators, Air Navigation Service Providers, and Organizations. 1.3 The Summit was followed by a RASG-MID Steering Committee (RSC) meeting to review and endorse the outcomes of the various sessions. 2. DISCUSSION 2.1 This Summit was organized with the purpose of: a) show-casing RASG-MID initiatives and activities; b) setting objectives for improvement in Safety in the Middle East based on the analysis done by the Annual Safety Report Team (MID-ASRT); c) reaching strategies that address the Top Aviation Safety Risk areas in the Region, and develop a MID Region Safety Strategy; and RSC/2-WP/13 -2- d) providing participants with training sessions & panel discussions focused on mitigation strategies for the top risk areas in the Region. -
