Salient features of the departmental activities- Emergency Doctor attends (24 x 7 x 365) to all patients coming from local places as well as referred from the all Divisional/Workshop Hospitals, Health Units of Eastern Railway, and other Zonal Railways also. During primary care at Emergency, basic investigations like CBG, ECG & RAT for Covid-19 also done routinely. Primary treatment of dog bite, cat bite, and wild animal bite and maintain anti-rabies vaccine register. Maintain Ambulance (Both COVID & Non-COVID) movement register and Attendance Register of the Railway Ambulance Drivers. Maintain refilling register of the augmented first-aid box for , the extended first-aid box for Duronto Express, Bandhan Express, Maitreyee express, and a large number of first aid boxes of Sealdah station and offices, and Kolkata station.

01 IRHS Doctor It's the only Psychiatry OPD in Eastern Railway In addition, indoor patients are also attended on a daily basis. Those needing institutional Treatment are referred to Institute of Psychiatry, SSKM Hospital after primary management by railway ambulances. Persons seeking Counseling like Marital Counseling, Career Counseling etc are also managed & referred to Dept of Psychology, Science College, Kolkata as deemed necessary. Medical Boards of E.Rly, S.E. Rly & Metro Rly are also attended as & when required. The Psychiatry Dept conducts various mental health awareness programmes across the year for sensitization of Rly Beneficiaries & Rly Doctors. Various Medico-legal Cases involving loco pilots are sent to Psy OPD for opinion (like overshooting, Lack of Concentration & SPAD). COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis Management:

B.R.Singh Hospital was initially designated as Non COVID Hospital All Non COVID patients from DRH/HWH, WSH/LLH, WSH/KPA and M.RLY Hospital are referred to BRSH for OPD & IPD treatment Fever Clinic is run daily 25 Bedded ISOLATION Ward is running in BRSH In August 2021, it was decided by the Competent Authority to get BRSH ready to provide Level 3 care for COVID patients. Old Surgical ICU was converted into COVID CCU. Nephrology ward was shifted to G+5 Building, and was also converted into COVID CCU. Negative Pressure facility was installed in one 10 Bedded COVID CCU. 20 Bedded COVID CCU was set up, along with 40 Bedded Step-Down COVID Units. Regular Nasopharyngeal swabs are collected daily and sent to NICED/Kolkata for RT PCR testing RAT is regularly done 24 x 7 in BRSH Adequate PPE, Disposable surgical Gown, N95 Masks, 3 Layer Mask, Face shield, Goggles, Gloves, etc. are provided to all Officers and Employees Protective transparent curtains installed in all OPDs and Nursing Stations in IPDs Protective transparent Barriers installed in Medical Examination Room, Cardiology OPD, Eye OPD etc Sanitization is done routinely throughout the Hospital 3 Ambulances and 2 were Staff Car hired for COVID crisis during Lockdown period. 3 Three new Cabins have been constructed in Ground Floor of new G+5 Building for Non COVID cases COVID Positive patients with mainly respiratory problems (ARDS, COVID Pneumonia), acute kidney injury, Chronic Kidney disease on MHD, Cardiac patients, mainly those with ACS and heart block, patients with chronic liver disease and Covid positive patients who suffered CVA, are admitted in COVID CCU.
