Earthy Objects Available dates: The Lynden Sculpture Garden offers a variety of programs Monday, October 14; Friday, October 25; Friday, November 8 for young people—studio classes, School’s Out Workshops, 9 am-4 pm (late pick-up available) Homeschool Days—that integrate our collection of monumental Ages 6-11 outdoor sculpture with the natural ecology of 40 acres of park, ponds and woodland, creating a unique hands-on experience of $60 / $52 members art in nature. EIGHT-WEEK FALL CLASS SESSION Schedule Your Own Workshop Are your kids off school on a day September 24-November 14, 2013 when we aren’t providing a workshop? If you can assemble a group, we’re happy to provide a School’s Out Workshop that fits your schedule. Studio classes focus on three-dimensional artmaking— though we will also do plenty of , and collaging—and an age-appropriate understanding of 2013-2014 HOMESCHOOL DAYS media, processes and techniques. Designed by art educator Jeremy Stepien and naturalist Naomi Cobb, Homeschool Days offer a unique, hands-on, small-group Re-Create experience of art and nature. Two workshop topics are offered Tuesdays, 4-5:30 pm each day, one focusing on three-dimensional artmaking and the Ages 6-9 other on the natural environment. Participants switch between $138 / $114 members the two-hour workshops after a lunch break at midday. Employing a variety of processes, we will transform abandoned objects into functional —things we can use. Week by week we’ll add May 22, 2014 Emergence to our shoebox circuses, using clay, paper, paints and mixed media to make finger puppet animals, clothespin clowns, and a working trapeze. Materials & Processes Tuesdays in the Garden with Naomi Cobb Thursdays, 4-5:30 pm A Monthly Outing for Parents & Small Children Ages 7-12 Meets from 10:30-11:30 am $138 / $114 members Young are drawn to self-directed exploration. This class introduces a September 10 & September 24 Seeds range of materials, processes and tools—found object collage, mold making October 8 & October 22 Spiders and casting, clay building, and sewing—then asks students to investigate the November 12 & November 26 Squirrels materials with the freedom to design independently. The focus will be on the December 3 Evergreen trees process of making, discussing ideas as we work, and sharing discoveries as we complete each project. $15 / $10 members for one adult and one child 4 or under.
