NEXTFOOD will drive the crucial transition to more sustainable and competitive agrifood and forestry systems development by designing and implementing education and training systems to prepare budding or already practicing professionals with competencies to push the green shift in our rapidly changing society. NEXTFOOD will challenge the linear view of knowledge transfer as a top- down process from research to advice and practice, and support the transition to more learner-centric, participatory, and action-oriented education and learning in agrifood and forestry systems. Action learning happens in the complex world outside the classroom – on farms, and in agrifood and forestry systems Objectives • Create an inventory of the skills and competencies needed for a transition to more sustainable agriculture, forestry and associated bio-value chains • Facilitate case studies to identify gaps and needs • Test new relevant curricula and training methods • Identify policy instruments that support the transition towards action-, and practice-oriented learning • methods • Peer-review tools for evaluating quality of the practice- oriented research • Create a platform for knowledge sharing WP1; A shared inventory of skills NEXTFOOD WP2; Action research facilitation cases WP3; WP5; WP4; Pilots Education and Policy Quality assurance training systems development & of research output recommendation WP6; Stakeholder involvement; Collaboration and learning within consortium; Dissemination of results beyond consortium WP7; Project management Work Packages and Tasks WP 1 WP 2 WP 3 WP 4 WP 5 WP 6 WP 7 T1.1 Inventory of T2.1 Planning of T3.1 Create T4.1 Diagnosis of T5.1 Review of T6.1 DEO-plan T7.1 Strategic skills action research framework the existing policies existing best management & in cases NF model practices internal comm.
