beatifi cation declaration by the Pope, as head of the Church, that one of the deceased faithful lived a holy life and/or died for their beliefs and is now dwelling in Heaven
canonize to be offi cially recognized and declared a Saint by the Church
Communion of Saints all the saints in Heaven, the souls in purgatory, and the faithful on Earth
intercession request made to God on behalf of others
repose eternal rest in Heaven
vigil prayerful gathering commonly held before a feast day or after a death, prior to the Funeral Mass; comes from the Latin vigilia meaning “wakefulness”
