Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God to Assume
Introduction THIS BOOK contains a critical study of Aleister Crowley's system of sexual magick and its affmities with the ancient Tantric rites of Kali, the dark goddess of blood and dissolution represented in Crowley's Cult as the Scarlet Woman. It is an attempt to supply a key to the work of an Adept whose vast knowledge of occultism was unsurpassed by any previous Western authority. I have emphasized the similarity between Crowley's Cult of Thelema and Tantra because the present wave of interest in the Tantric System makes it probable that readers will be able to assess more fully the importance of Crowley's contribution to occultism in general and to the Magical Path in particular. As a result of many years' research into obscure phases of occultism I have evolved a method of dream control for contacting extra-terrestrial and non-human entities; this forms the substance of Chapters Six and Seven. This method is described in relation to the mysteries of Kundalini, the supreme magical power symbolized by the sleeping Fire Snake at the base of the spine which, after its awakening, activates the subtle power-zones in the human body. Aleister Crowley, Austin Spare, Dion Fortune and the German occultist Eugen Grosche were among the first Adepts in the West to teach the use of the psycho-sexual energies, the Ophidian Current that informed the most ancient arcana of Africa and the Far East. Although it was Crowley who first integrated this current with the Westem Esoteric Tradition, this was not achieved without some doubtful interpretations of oriental symbolism. -

Before Behemoth became a death metal juggernaut, it played black metal. Of course, its death metal is often called “blackened,” and the Polish band still plays live in corpsepaint, albeit sparingly. However, those used to its recent 7-string crunchings will be shocked to hear its early sounds - primitive, lo-fi, with high shrieks far removed from the monstrous, processed death growls of Demigod. Behemoth’s pre-1999 discography is quite rich. However, what was once rare and scattered has been reissued repeatedly, flooding the market with similarly-named packages. Here’s the lowdown on these compilations: 1. Chaotica - The Essence of the Underworld - Metal Mind recently re-released this two-disc set from 1999 (Season of Mist seems to have also reissued it in 2003). It contains And the Forests Dream Eternally (EP, 1994), Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) (full-length, 1995), Grom (full-length, 1996), Bewitching the Pomerania (EP, 1997), and four previously unreleased covers and demo tracks. 2. Historica - released in 2003, the Historica box set is the same thing as Chaotica, but spreads its contents across five discs, adding Pandemonic Incantations (full-length, 1998), and a disc of live recordings and rarities. This is the most complete collection of Behemoth’s black metal era. 3. Demonica - released in 2006, this two-disc set collects previously unreleased tracks mostly from Behemoth’s black metal era, and does not overlap with Chaotica or Historica. -

Vocalist / violinist Katarzyna Dziubak guests on two tracks. As the group´s name ("The Big Lebowski" – Joel Coen´s 1998 brilliant movie – a non- confirmed guess?) and the album´s title / subtitle suggest, the band is deeply involved with cinematography and indeed the album´s Prog / Ambient vistas should be ideal as soundtracks, but they do hold their ground as a great stand-alone instrumental album. The music is beautifully melodic and rich, with layers upon layers of instrumental sound placed one of top of another, creating a full-body sound. The usage of various keyboards is tasteful and manages to avoid "overdoing", which usually plagues most keyboard-oriented albums. The guitar plays most of the leads, changing its sound from delicately acoustic to heavy-metal, but never being obtrusive. Bass and drums keep the massive sound together beautifully, gluing everything to perfection. The musical themes are diverse and present a wide spectrum of harmonic approaches and rhythmic subtleties, keeping the listener on his toes for the entire duration of the album. -

Jak podają źródła, w 1948 roku francuski badacz, kompozytor, akustyk Pierre Schaeffer (1910-1995) nagrał za pomocą mikrofonu dźwięki naturalne m.in. (śpiew ptaków, hałas uliczny, rozmowy) i próbował je przekształcać. Tak powstała muzyka nazwana konkretną (fr. musigue concrete). W tym samym roku wyemitował w radiu „Koncert szumów”. Jego najważniejszą kompozycją okazał się utwór pt. „Symphonie pour un homme seul” z 1950 roku. W kolejnych latach muzykę konkretną łączono z muzyką tradycyjną. Oto pionierzy tego eksperymentu: John Cage i Yannis Xenakis. Muzyka konkretna pojawiła się w kompozycji Rogera Watersa. Utwór ten trafił na ścieżkę dźwiękową do filmu „The Body” (1970). Grupa Beaver and Krause wprowadziła muzykę konkretną do utworu „Walking Green Algae Blues” z albumu „In A Wild Sanctuary” (1970), a zespół Pink Floyd w „Animals” (1977). Pierwsze próby tworzenia muzyki elektronicznej miały miejsce w Darmstadt (w Niemczech) na Międzynarodowych Kursach Nowej Muzyki w 1950 roku. W 1951 roku powstało pierwsze studio muzyki elektronicznej przy Rozgłośni Radia Zachodnioniemieckiego w Kolonii (NWDR- Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk). Tu tworzyli: H. Eimert (Glockenspiel 1953), K. By contrast, music which is popular but perceived as “bad” has generated surprisingly little interest. This dissertation looks at Polish post-socialist music through the lenses of musical phenomena that came to prominence after socialism collapsed but which are perceived as controversial, undesired, shameful, and even dangerous.
