Operator Manual : S.W.O.R.D International; MK 17 Issue 2 Multi-cal, Patent Pending SAFETY RULES The following safety rules are placed in this manual by S.W.O.R.D. International, Inc. as an important reminder that firearm safety is your responsibility. Please read this operator's manual before handling your firearm. Firearms can be dangerous and can potentially cause serious injury, damage to property, or death, if handled improperly.
• Treat every firearm as if it were loaded. • Never index your muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy. • Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to fire. • Know your target, what is beyond it, and all surroundings. • Always wear hearing and eye protection when shooting. • Discharging firearms in poorly ventilated areas, cleaning firearms, or handling ammunition may result in exposure to lead, a substance known to be associated with birth defects, reproductive harm and other serious injury. • Be sure that your barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting. • Use only clean, high quality factory loaded ammunition in good condition.
WARNING
Before starting an inspection and/or moving down range, be sure to clear the firearm.
To be considered SAFE before disassembly, cleaning, inspecting, transporting, or storing, the firearm must be cleared.
With the bolt carrier assembly locked to the rear or in its forward position, if the firearm is dropped or jarred with a loaded magazine in place, it could chamber a round.
When handling your firearm ALWAYS ensure it is pointed in a safe direction.
Do not load with a hot chamber.
If your firearm fails to fire with a live round in the chamber of a hot barrel, remove the round. If you cannot remove it within 10 seconds, remove magazine and wait 15 minutes with the firearm pointed in a safe direction. This way a round cooking off won’t harm you. ALWAYS keep your face away from the ejection port while clearing, especially with a hot chamber.
DO NOT OVERHEAT BARRELS. Sustained firing of the firearm will rapidly raise the temperature of the barrel to a critical point.
Firing 140 rounds, rapidly and continuously, will raise the temperature of the barrel to the COOKOFF point. At this temperature, any live round remaining in the chamber for any reason may cook off (detonate) in as short as 10 seconds.
Operator Manual : S.W.O.R.D International; MK 17 Issue 2 Multi-cal, Patent Pending WARNING
If the cook-off point/temperture is reached, the firearm should be immediately cleared and allowed to cool.
Sustained rate of fire for the firearm is 12-15 rounds per minute. This is the rate of fire that the firearm can continue to deliver for an indefinite length of time without serious overheating.
Sustained rate of fire should never be exceeded except under circumstances of extreme urgency.
Exceeding the sustained rate of fire can result in a catastrophic failure of the barrel, resulting in injury or death to personnel.
When disassembling the magazine, turn the magazine away from your face, the spring is under compression.
Always make sure your firearm is clear and on SAFE before moving down range.
If an audible ‘POP’ or reduced RECOIL is experienced during firing, immediately CEASE FIRE. Either condition could indicate an incomplete powder burn and/or a bullet stuck in the bore. If unsure how to correct this issue contact an experienced gunsmith.
DO NOT fire if water is present in barrel.
DO NOT interchange bolts between firearms.
Be sure the cam pin is installed in the bolt group. If it isn’t, your firearm can still fire and will damage the firearm.

This warranty is void if the firearm has been abused, misused, or damaged; fired with hand loaded, reloaded, improper ammunition or with an obstruction in the barrel; or damaged by failure to perform proper maintenance. This warranty does not apply to normal wear of any parts, including their surface finish, or if unauthorized repair or alteration has been performed.
The terms of this warranty cannot be changed except in writing by S.W.O.R.D International. Wholesalers or Dealers, unless authorized by S.W.O.R.D International in advance are not authorized to make any warranty repair or adjustment on behalf of S.W.O.R.D International.

Operator Manual : S.W.O.R.D International; MK 17 3 Issue 2 Multi-cal, Patent Pending AMMUNITION
For the operator’s safety and for platform reliability, S.W.O.R.D International, Inc. strongly recommends using only ammunition manufactured by United States based reputable ammunition companies that are members of The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI).
WARNING
Do Not Fire: • Seriously corroded ammunition • Dented cartridges • Cartridges with loose bullets • Cartridges exposed to extreme heat (135°) until they have cooled • Cartridges with the bullet pushed in (short rounds) • Reloaded ammunition • Steel cased or lacquer coated cartridges
Failure to follow all of the above listed recommendations may result in reliability issues, operator injury, and Will Void Manufactures Warranty.
We have engineered this rifle to work with ammunition using 125-185 grain projectiles from a variety of manufacturers. Due to variances in manufacturers tolerances, you may experience inconsistency using ammunition with 140 grain and below bullets.
LUBRICATION
S.W.O.R.D. International, Inc. recommends using high quality firearms lubricants from well known manufacturers of such products. These are just a few examples.
Hoppes Double Tap Break Free
Lubricate the bolt, bolt carrier, disconnector, gas piston and charging handle slide and track sparingly prior to shooting and after cleaning.
