Is Your Bra a Pain in the Neck?

Most women when asked whether their bra fits immediately respond with 'of course'!! Chiropractor Helen Barton from the Mansfield Chiropractic Clinic on St John Street, Mansfield Say: „One problem we see in our clinic on a daily basis is women wearing obviously poor fitting bras.‟ Some common indications of a badly fitted bra are the straps falling off the shoulders or digging in, the under wire digging into the side of the bust, the back strap digging in, baggy cups or the bust squeezing out over the bra. Helen continues: „Some of the problems we encounter due to incorrectly fitted bras are neck and shoulder pain, mid back pain and chest pain as well as other posture related problems.‟ Many women find it embarrassing to go and get measured, while others refuse to admit that they are several cup sizes bigger than they thought. Helen said as a student, she visited her chiropractic clinician on a regular basis, commonly with posture related aches and pains. During one treatment she was pointed out that her bra didn't fit as well as it should. „I had never been measured and was still wearing the same size bra as I had during my teens. I was shocked to find I was several sizes larger than what I had been wearing for years.‟ If you think about it logically even if you are not that large the bust weighs a fair amount. We have to work against gravity and the back and shoulders take this strain. It is quite common for women to complain of pain at the top of their shoulders and in the mid back without realising their bra may be affecting this. Helen has also come across women who are struggling to correct their poor posture without realising that their bra is pulling their shoulders forwards. A bra should be firm but not tight across the back, the breast should fill the cup but not bulge over the cup and the shoulder straps shouldn't dig into the shoulders but should not slip of the shoulder. The recent news that the Joseph Whittaker School will not be included in the Building Schools for the Future programme is of course incredi- bly disappointing news and I share the frustrations of staff, pupils and parents. Joseph Whittaker was an excellent candidate who worked extremely hard for the bid and there is no doubt in my mind that they would have greatly benefitted from this opportunity. This was a regrettable consequence of our current financial mess and it saddens me that projects like this are having to be sacrificed in order to straighten out the country‟s finances. It makes me incredibly angry that not one Labour Minister or Member of Parliament has apologised for the mess they left behind. Looking to the future, I have asked the Minister for Education what his plans are to help those schools who were hoping to be included in BSF and will be lobbying the County Council to provide at least some of the funding needed for the improvements at Joseph Whittaker. I think it‟s worth saying that if we could wind back the clock, the £5 million the County Council spent on bureaucracy and preparation for the BSF bid would have been better allocated in a cheque to Joseph Whittaker. In fact, it would have covered half the building costs. Cutting paperwork and red tape is such an obvious way to make sav- ings and I‟m pleased that as a Government we‟re taking this challenge head on with this budget. We‟ve extended this to the Welfare State, making it a simpler system where the vulnerable and in need will be supported fairly. We have also however, taken a firmer line on those who currently claim benefits, could work but choose not to. At this time, everyone needs to pull together and if you can work, you should work, and the Government has a duty to support you in this. Creating jobs has to be the cornerstone of our economic recovery and we must make more opportunities in areas like Sherwood. I‟ve joined the All Party Parliamentary Group on Coalfields and will be working to support communities like Blidworth and Rainworth. The Devel- opment of Rufford Colliery into industrial units for example is the kind of project we should have been doing ten years ago and we need to catch up.

Setting up in Business— “SO YOU HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE THE PLUNGE AND GO INTO BUSINESS” WHAT TO CONSIDER NOW”.

Setting up a business is scary but exciting, however having been through the process of what you are going to do, it is now leads to the process of what you should do next. The first thing to do is to get as much advice as you can, from as many people as you can. People on your list should include:-  Government agencies such as Business Link and the Inland Revenue –yes even the dreaded enemy has a great amount of useful information on its internet sites, and of course, you will need to register with them at some stage (usually sooner rather than later)  Banks, these are extremely useful in start ups by giving advice on most commercial aspects of business.  Other people in Business, these can be extremely important if you wish to avoid a lot of pit falls, knowledge of which is gained mainly by experience.  Accountants, these are the most important (you would expect me to say that though), but we are the people who are instrumental in guiding you through the financial maze and hopefully to prosperity. The best piece of advice is always listen to advice, but weigh it all up before you act on it, and certainly the most important thing is to seek the advice of an accountant before you decide on which way you are going and how you are going to get there. Do not be tempted to take the first option offered; it may not be the one for you You will need to think seriously about the implication and reasons for choosing the type of commercial vehicle that will suit your business. You have the choice of sole trader or limited company. Each one will have its advantages over the other depending on the type of business you have and what profile you may need. As a generality the more the risk and/or the better the profile you need the more you would choose the limited company route. The simpler the requirements the more you would consider that the sole trader route would be best for you.

In the next edition we will look into the differences between sole trader and limited company status and how to set up the business whether as a sole trader or as a limited company. Article C/O Keith Knights of Knights Accountants.

After making sacrifices through our working lives to save up a decent pension pot we owe it to ourselves to make good decisions about what to do with that money when we come to retire. Retirement is one of the most financially complex times of our lives, a strong argument for seeking out the professional expertise of an Independent Financial Adviser who understands the full range of options available.

Information sent to those nearing retirement tends to reflect an assumption that most will opt for a lifetime annuity, a type of plan that provides a regular income for life in return for giving up all their pension capital. It is important for them to understand that they have the right to shop around using the Open Market Option to find the highest-paying lifetime annuity.

With a difference of around 20 per cent between the worst and best paying, this is the very least most retirees should consider and making the wrong decision could add up to thousands over the course of a long retirement.

Edited, Produced and Distributed by MARATHON MEDIA 15 MARATHON MEDIA STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES : Blidworth

GOOD NEWS Crime has dropped dramatically in Blidworth throughout the past 12 months. So far this year (at 05/08/2010) there were 59 reported crimes of all types in Blidworth beat area, a reduction from 100 in the same period last year.

Oak Avenue. I have left this intelligence on this update as this is continuing. The jitty between Oak Avenue and Dale Lane has been highlighted as an area where young persons are frequenting and are believed to be involved in drug and alcohol use. Empty alcohol bottles and evidence of drugs paraphernalia have been observed at this location. The telephone kiosk situated at the end of the jitty on Dale Lane, appears to be a meeting place where exchanges have been made. Please continue to report any suspicious circumstances or young persons drinking alcohol within this area. Blidworth & Rainworth are designated areas which means that drinking open vessels of alcohol in these public places is forbidden. The Police will seize any open vessels from any persons found in possession of these items regardless of their age. Blidworth Woods on Rigg Lane, Haywood Oaks Park and Blidworth Bottoms Park. A Police Operation jointly with Newark & Sherwood District Council and the Forestry Commission is currently ongoing where posters have been erected and Officers are conducting high visibility patrols in each car park and will be available to speak with residents and visitors. Dog Fouling. I have already issued a warning to one local resident who allowed his dog to foul on the grassed area of Dale Lane. Please do not let your dogs foul on public footpaths and do report anyone on 0300 300 99 99. A fixed penalty can be issued for this offence if witnessed by an Officer. Speeding. This continues to be a priority for Blidworth. A letter has been forwarded to the Highways department supporting the raised zebra crossing that has been requested on Dale Lane opposite the TESCO EXPRESS Store. The interactive speed signs are a welcome sight through the village, encouraging all to slow down. Mini Motors and Petrol Scooters. Belle Vue Lane and Lyndhurst Avenue Blidworth have been recorded as experiencing problems with children driving these mechanically propelled vehicles. I need to stress to parents and adults that children do not have a driving license, MOT or insurance to ride these vehicles on a public highway or where the public have access. The scooters/mopeds will be seized by Police under Police powers if they are found riding on them. on 05/08/2010 around the Leisure Centre car park where 5 young boys all under 11 years of age, riding around on a motorised petrol GOPED. One of the boys had already fallen off the scooter and injured his arm, a vehicle was narrowly missed and none of the boys were wearing helmets. The scooter was seized and will be destroyed. Please continue to report incidents and pass on any details of any individuals concerned. Please help your child to learn their telephone number to contact you in case of an emergency, most of these boys did not know their numbers and one had an injury. Belle Vue Lane. This continues to be a hotspot of anti social issues. Drug use is evident near to the entrance of the field adjacent to Tippings wood. Persons have been seen to drive vehicles to this location and meet up. The swing has been damaged on the play park and graffiti is on the increase around that location. There is evidence of drug use around the play area. The fencing panels that were erected along the boundary of the Industrial Estate and Belle Vue Lane has been damaged. The bolts have been removed near to the previous access route to the Industrial area. As the schools re open in September this road becomes extremely congested and there will be fixed penalties issued for unnecessary obstruction. The car park of the Leisure Centre seems to be a gathering spot for youths to kick a football around between the hours of 10:00pm and 01:00am, this is partially due to the security lights illuminating the area until 11:00pm at night, but is causing noise problems for the residents on Belle Vue Lane. If you know these people, please pass on the request to be courteous at that time of night and that the ‘MUGGER’ is only at the end of this road which is purpose built for this activity. Shop Thefts. Good news - stills were publicised from the CCTV of a female shoplifting recently at TESCO EXPRESS. The female has been traced and dealt with by the Police. On a note to all residents and retail outlets, there has been intelligence received that a black Frontera car displaying a registered number L335PBD is being used in and around Blidworth and Rainworth possibly in connection with transporting a male and female shoplifter. The offenders have struck twice at the SPAR shop in Rainworth so please be alert and report anything suspicious on: 0300 300 99 99 Grievous Bodily Harm. Good news - the male and female offender for the unprovoked assault on a female on Dale Lane Blidworth in April 2010 have now been charged with GBH (wounding) to Crown Court, thank you to all who came forward to help with this investigation. Gross Indecency. A male residing in Blidworth has been charged at Nottingham Crown Court on 16/07/2010 with 11 counts of gross indecency to his step daughter. He has received a three and a half year sentence. The property is currently being repossessed by Newark & Sherwood Homes. Marriott Lane Play Park. This play area is accessed by either New Lane or off Main Street and has suddenly become a race track for young drivers. 5 vehicles were sighted racing across the unmade roads which are causing the play area to be a no go for young people. Please be observant, take vehicle registration numbers and report them to the Police in order that we can stop this before someone gets hurt. Use the: 0300 300 99 99 number or email me with the details. If you wish to remain anonymous, please leave the details on Crime stoppers: 0800 555 111. Cannabis Cultivation. There has been and continues to be Cannabis cultivated within properties in and around Blidworth. We are keen to gather any intelligence from yourselves if you notice any of the following: a strong pungent herbal smell coming from a property that you may walk past or visit, a sharp rise or interference to your electricity supply or any other suspicions. Your service provider will be more than happy to assist you if you contact them and we will treat your call in confidence if you have any intelligence about a property close by to you. The most common method of cultivation is for an internal room to be prepared and heated to such a degree as to help along the plants to thrive. We will deal with every cultivation positively and need your help to deter this crime.

Surgery Dates: PCSO John ARINS will be available to speak to you about any issues or concerns you may have. Rockwood Close 22nd September 2010 and 27th October 2010 10 am – 11 am Blidworth Library -13/11/2010 10am – 11am
