& District NewsDecember 2015 Christmas is coming... Birklands Primary School Round-up The last few months have been a busy time at Birklands Primary School. Staff and pupils have been busy organising and running charity events and a halloween extravaganza with fancy dress, treats and disco. Roald Dahl day: On Friday 11th September, pupils were invited to dress up as a character associated with Roald Dahl or wear a yellow piece of clothing, Roald’s favourite colour, as part of Roald Dahl day. Everyone made a great effort and had a fantastic day. Alongside this, the school also set up a collection for the Emergency Child Refugee section of Save the Children Fund in regard to the Migration Crisis. (Pictured left and below) Halloween Disco: The upper school hall at Birklands was transformed into a Halloween extravaganza for a disco with a difference on 22nd October. It was decorated with spooky inflatables, lighting and hanging decorations and the children came in fancy dress to finish off the look. With treats such as biscuits, drinks, goody bags and a tuck shop as well as great music and decorations, everyone had a fantastic evening. (Pictured right) Macmillan Coffee Morning: Birklands Primary School held a successful coffee morning in aid of Macmillan on Friday 2nd October. The PTFA served drinks and coffee alongside a selection of delicious cakes donated by parents, carers and staff, with all proceeds going to Macmillan. The school also held a non- uniform day for the pupils who could also enjoy a cake and juice at break time. The whole day was a huge success and We will deliver your cards in the areas listed for ONLY 25P.
